Yeah it’s probably because you’re doing a full time job that’s on every day of the holidays or you are going on summer camp for almost all the holidays! It’s just a lot of kids in America go on summer camp during the summer holidays so they are not home at all for much of the holidays!

ooohhh, sorry the weekend is when I work and it was taking me longer than it should to figure this out
I'm not away from technology all summer, but I am a mother of two young children, one of whom goes to school the other is with me 4 days a week, and I work 3 days a week, but during the summer they're both home so the 4 days I normally have only one child to teach and entertain during the summer I have two of them and I have to spend most of my efforts keeping them busy and have less time to work on art things, I already have enough owed art to keep me busy in what free time I DO have until my older child goes back to school and my days free up again

aw you're totally fine, I honestly don't usually do much with feathers personally because keeping feathers in the US is risky due to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migrator… )
the ones I have from game birds I've cleaned with basic white vinegar and water either with a bit of cloth or a soft brush/cotton swab and then let them dry in the sun (with a rock placed over the shaft at the bottom to prevent blowing away) Once dry I groom them with my fingers to get the barbs to reattach as best that I can
honestly not sure if there may be a better approach since I don't deal with feathers often though :/

K, sorry to bother you but its something about skulls.
So today I found a skull. Judging by a size of the head (Its large) and the size of teeth (Smol, white), it must be a kitten's skull.
But that's not an important part. Can you give me tips about disinfecting the skulls? I wanna use it for studies!

If it’s mostly just dirty looking you can soak it in peroxide for a few hours to a day then scrub with a soft toothbrush and if it still isn’t as clean as you’d like you can soak in fresh peroxide again
Don’t use bleach it impacts the composition of the bone
And don’t boil, it forces impurities into the bone instead of drawing them out

How I heard, you have to soak it for a week in peroxide to become completley white. Also, my mum doesn't let me to check the inside the skull (With those thin pincers) if it has brain remains, childhood trauma.... She's almost 48....

If the outside is pretty clean of clingy fleshy stuff the inside should be also, brain matter is high value food for cleaner critters so it tends to go quickly, and yes the longer total duration you soak in peroxide the whiter it will get but it’s best to do it in phases instead of just leaving it, even with peroxide extended exposure isn’t a great idea
Plus wet looks different than dry slightly so it’s a good idea to take it out scrub it off and let it dry periodically to see if it’s as white as you’re hoping for.
Keeping in mind that most bones won’t go super white if they’ve been outside, the whitest bones usually come from fresh sourced animals cleaned with a dermestid beetle colony

This is one of the whitest bones I have currently and it had been outside for over a year I only had to peroxide it for roughly 2.5 days, taking it out halfway through and refreshing the peroxide. I don’t like super white bones though, or I may have tried to go longer, a slight aged patina engages me so I often don’t even bother with peroxide depending on the state the bones are found in

I live in a city, soo balcony maybe? Peroxide a week, if skull not white enough. Replace the old one and another week waiting without the shut lid on top. Just covered. Also what is that animal which your skull showed? It looks herbivorous.
Story Time: When I was a kid I was afraid of skeletons, and my brother once scared me with a gummy skull.
Now, few years later, He's afraid to sleep when knowing there's a dead animal's skull in the room (So we keep it on the balcony in a jar ,,Incase the worms wiggle out" , lol), and I'm completley fine with that.

The animal in the picture is a juvenile male white tailed deer (the back molars are not fully emerged even) but as it had been outside for quite a while the front of the face was chewed up, originally I suspected my father in laws dog but the more I read the more I realize it was likely rodents taking advantage of easy calcium.
And keeping on the balcony would depend on the way the weather is near where you are, its gotten cold enough here that I'd worry about freezing liquids messing up the bone in some way personally, but that would be regionally dependent.
If you're really looking for white white you could certainly leave it for a week, but I'd say check on it pretty regularly, taking it out as soon as it is to the color you're hoping for is ideal instead of just leaving it.
I've been following bonelust on instagram for a while and she also runs a blog of the same name and is an admin on the vulture culture group on fb that I was a member of (before i deactivated) and I've found her incredibly helpful and kind so that's usually who I recommend for further info
