It's kind of liberating to be without, to be honest. I was running/helping at at least three shops on CS and had to be online constantly. While I miss the social aspect of it all, I certainly don't miss all that work.

ohgosh; thats when the whole popularity bursts don't get any better ;-;
my shop has slowly gone from little place to a sort 'amg i need art from you' spot

and opening five slots there + furry paws + da is really running me down mentally and physically; i feel bad neglecting those orders and my hands just can't keep up with the ideas in my head.

the social aspect has had a downturn as far as i think, artists are set on plastering massive watermarks and slaughtering anyone who even has a similar style. now it revolves around popular artists while the learners are weeded out and ignored. while you aren't missing out artwise the people have gotten friendlier, now that we have more general helpers there isn't a need for mini mods and such around the forums; lots of people have gone into the 'quitting' mode, when really i think its just a test for attention P:

sorry for going off on a tangent there; you needn't read all of it, cs has gotten a bit more interesting but otherwise the spurs of events and interesting pet designs/hired artists its the same old chickensmoothie you're used to ^^

Yeah. I had a small art shop and started Pixel Dogs way back when... I'm sure you remember. And then people started wanting art and of course people always want growing adoptables, so that got busy... and before I knew it I was getting regulars and affiliates and I was offering favors to all of them. I honestly would have quit a lot sooner had I not had so much help from others with the stores.

Unfortunately, that's always how it is with the artistic community. People with talent rag on the more inexperienced artists and then call their own art poor to reel in some compliments. Some go further and fish for compliments by complaining about their horrible home lives or threatening to leave because nobody loves them. It's just kind of the way they think, I guess.
But I'm glad to hear everything's going well. I gave absolutely all of my pets away when I left (I decided it was bad to have an emotional attachment to a drawing), but I'm still curious about where they took the art after I left. Maybe I'll sneak back into the forums someday

at least you have customers who would pay loads for your art; i see too many people who think that just because they have a drawing program and have their own characters they can open an art shop.
and then they can't get any customers and before you know it the shop is filled with 'bump' and 'why doesn't anyone like my art?' posts .___.

exactly this; just baiting the hook for more people to latch onto and feed the artist their fill of 'amg your art' comments, more than the deep meaningfull compliments that they deserve they can fall head over heels for a two worded post.

It wasn't really that spectacular.
And yeah, it's on Arcadia Isle now. I was unhappy with what happened to my idea when other artists started doing their own thing with my idea, but I decided it wasn't important after a while. I don't really care much for Pixel Dogs these days to be honest XD
That's always annoying. I think the internet has made people in general unappreciative of art and egocentric :/

I felt that way for a while. This is actually my second (first successful XD) attempt at leaving... the first time I kept all my favorite pets because I couldn't bare to give them up. Before I knew it, I was back again. I figured that even though it sucked, I'd have to give them all away to really cut my ties with that place. Besides, I loved those things and didn't want them rotting in an empty account... and you know what? I don't miss them anymore. It's something you have to arrive at on your own when you're ready I think, but it's not as hard as you might think

I've improved a lot since I drew that one, though. I'm tempted to come back and share what I've accomplished since then with the community, but I don't want to distract myself from things like my Precalculus class XD
Talking to people like you make me really miss this place, though. I'm almost certain you'll see me again over Christmas break (have you noticed how consistent I've been with logging back in? I'm so good...) and hopefully more often after that

yes; i guess how seeing your own idea flourish then get handed down from owner to owner does degrade you a bit. but at least now they're being used, and semi actively as well c:

Exactly. I'm just glad to have been a part of something that seems to be making everyone else very happy

The designs are one thing. It's the people I miss the most.
My only thing is that I was really spending a TON of time on DA and CS, and now I'm a university student and don't have that kind of time. I'm applying for work, my GPA is looking up for the first time in a while... I don't want to screw all that up to keep up a healthy internet life. I'm an adult now, and as much as I hate it sometimes, I feel like if I ever want to go anywhere in this life, I'm going to have to start acting like one. Enjoy it while you have the time!

It actually feels great to throw a very rare pet into some unfortunate newbie's collection. That's part of why I focused so much energy toward adoptables when I was really active. It gets easier after the first few go, too I wouldn't just throw them away, though. Make people work for the better pets.

Improvement is what we all aim for! You're crazy, though. Taking commissions is a great way to push your own limits and improve your style.
I know. It's slowly sucking me back into it's vortex of fun and adventure. I'm missing the CS community as well and have been thinking of logging back in to check my account... but we'll see. Hopefully I can steer clear of doing too much work this time (that's why I left my tablet at home! Mua ha ha!)

Well, I'm glad you're so understanding. A lot of low-lives (dare I say no-lives?) on the internet don't seem to comprehend the fact that there is a whole world beyond the desktop screen.
Things are getting tougher in the school world though, I have to say. I'm not doing nearly as well in my classes as I'd hoped I would, and the end of the semester is looming. Crunch time (so I log into DA... genius!)

Anyway, how're the fall months treating you? I'm personally looking forward to Thanksgiving break... that'll give me a chance to catch up on everything (sleep will be the primary target, I think) and relax a little C:
