Wow dude, I still totally fail to realise just how much work you've done in the industry. Over the past two decades how much have things changed? I was a young tyke or something back in 1996 and wouldn't have a clue what the illustration industry was like back then. Too busy playing Resident Evil probably. Have things gotten easier with the advent of digital heavy media and the internet? What's the demand like for freelancers?

Hey Miles, I haven't been on my profile here in quite a while. So sorry for not responding earlier.
Β
Dang brother, you're making me feel old... Guess it has been two decades and oh yeah, I am old. HA.

Yeah I've been in the children's publishing industry from pretty much the beginning of my career. After I graduated from Kubert I was broke and the comic bubble had just burst. I was roaming from comic book publisher to comic book publisher and getting no where. Guys that had been drawing for ages were out of work, so I moved back to my old stomping grounds and did construction for about 9 months until I got my first full-time gig with Landolls Children's Publishing. Over the years I did a few children's books and tons of covers & spot art. I enjoy it. I'd rather draw zombies, but kids cartoons are cool.Β I still work full-time for a publisher based out of Greensboro, NC.

As far as Keep Turning LLC, I freelance on whatever rolls in. I don't go out of my way to pull in freelance. I'm pretty much word of mouth for that work, so it's kind of like a roller coaster. It had been on a down hill last year. I had a big project with google end after a little over four years and I was beat. So I started the Lost Dogs MC comic and really put no effort into finding new work. Which was nice. My bank account was not pleased with it, but I got to spend some much needed time with my kids and draw some things I wanted for a change.

The internet has helped a lot with freelance and since I live in Ohio my cost of living is a lot lower so that is nice when I'm doing projects for California or New York based companies. It's also let me work aΒ full-timeΒ job from home for the children'sΒ bookΒ publishing so that has been nice too.

Really freelance, like most of the art industry is all about who you know. It's crazy how small such a large industryΒ reallyΒ is. Even when it comes to self publishing web comics. I stumbled across your book and got hooked on it and end up friends with you on smack-jeeves. Then come to find out that you know Leah, who grew up in the same town as me and graduated from the same high school just years later. What are the odds that I meet a guy from Australia that already knows some from my home town? Frig'n crazy.Β

Well I better get to work. I got to design a t-shirt for a biker club. My kind of work. Β You have a good one and keep the pages coming. Really impressed with the look of your latest issue. Can't wait for more.Β

Just stopped by to get a fix of some tasty artwork. Gotta say- stuff is off the hook- dig the style, very fresh, and original. Nice twist on the Zombie Apocolypse.
Well, gotta organize, before they rise!!!!!
I'll be stoppin' by to catch a dose from time to time, gotta feed the soul, right?

Mojizu came to an end last Oct.2011. Not sure why they ended I am sure it had to be all about money. But then what isn't in life. Glad you are doing well and it is always great to see your work. Myself I am trying my best to move up in this crazy illustration/art world. I got back into painting early this year and was even in a few shows. I also have been doing storyboards a bit more. Here is my little art world...

Anyways keep at it and I will type to you later.
