Hi! the road of art is often difficult and full of hardship but when you know deep down that this is your thing you do everything you can to improve, and that is (if you are going to do characters) practice your anatomy everyday at least an hour minimum. Gesture, figure, lighting, all of them. From sites such as artists.pixelovely.com/ . And then read books like these ones: www.alexhays.com/loomis/ or these ones: jamesgurney.com/site/books . Watch videos. Invest in your art education, buy gumroads. There are a lot of cheap resources that you can use instead of joining art college. There is no short road but if you practice and if you believe in yourself and know that you can get better at art, then you can. I wish you success my friend.
