I have a Wacom Bamboo Create...I don't think it was very expensive (however it seems to cost around $300 on Amazon, not sure if that was the price 2 years ago). I think it's pretty good, not too big not too small, and you get some "free" software with the package!
I think you should get one of those if you're just starting out with a tablet. When you get super-duper-gougemyeyesout good, it'll be safe to upgrade. Remember, it's not so much about the software and hardware as it is about your skill! Really good artists will still be really good with a crap-ass tablet.

and I use a pen sometimes but lately I've just been using pencil because I can kinda correct my mistakes after im finished if yuh know what I mean :/ then sometimes I just use color pencils out of lazyness...

Ahh that's good! My paper drawing skills are not as advanced as my digital drawing skills. I draw more slowly on paper ehehe...Digitally there are so many shortcuts and you get used to them. I still draw on paper for practice (and when my wrist hurts from the tablet).
Oh, before you get (and use) the tablet, you should look up some ergonomics, to see how to move your hand and hold the pen so that you don't get wrist pain which can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome (yikes). You should also get a wrist brace for drawing, if you can afford it. The brace will keep your wrist straight. I need to get me one of those =.=

Really?! I bet your just as good with a sheet of paper as you are with digital art, just not with the as much with the coloring and effects huh!! (but how would i know :3 ) ! I would love to some traditional art from you!! and there's shorcuts on digital huh!! sounds like something I need!! heheh!!

Ehehe, it depends on how big the drawing is. Bigger drawings are easier for me digitally C: My traditional art is too messy, with all the pencil smudges and stuff ><

sadly yesss ;.;..... I'm in high school and im pretty close to graduating >.< I just gotta get through rest half now !! and right now I'm trying to get into this art program that will get me into a art college but I don't know if I can get in) you have to make a portfolio with like 5 artworks of your own (my sister got in easily !!) an so i showed my teacher my art work and she said it wass good but they don't seem to give a damn about anime ish art!!! she said its more really about real life items and what not

Ughhhghghghhghghg I knowwwww what you meannnnnn. I'm in 2nd year at university (doing science), and I'd like to be able to draw well (and fast) enough to illustrate part-time (along with whatever career path I end up choosing). I know that I have to do well at semi-realism (or realism itself) in order to appeal to a wider audience. It really is about the realistic stuff. If you look at video game art, if it isn't a jprg or something, most of the concept art will be at least semi-realistic. I think backgrounds will be a good thing to master first, as well as anatomy (and shading anatomy properly).
I think it will be okay if you put anime in your portfolio, but everything else needs to be really artistic. Anime itself can be very artistic. It just depends on the style and the medium that you use.

wow!! a 2nd year at a university!! seems like your doing pretty well!! and yea your right,knowing a variety of styles can bring a wider audience. an alot of people seem to be atracted to the realistic look and it seems to be one of those needed skills to have when being an artist! i( I'm not very big on realistic art though,which seems to be pretty crucial for me....) I've actually feared that this day would come.. as silly as that sounds !! and to tell you the truth ive never really planned on going to college .. I just always just aimed towards it in case I changed my mind. but I am very much inlove with backgrounds kinda like I am with anime!!!

Teehee, university is so much work (and so expensive)...but I hope it'll be worth it! As long as you are doing something that you love, the practice will not be as painful as you think! Lol I have speedpaints (paintings), but not video speedpaints. Well, there are "speedpaints", which are done by quickly painting a background or something, and then there are sped-up videos of people drawing anything, also called speedpaints. I was thinking of doing a speedpaint video but I would be stopping and starting too much
