Description Original bootscreen [4:3]: [link]

I loved the bootscreen however frustrated with the limited 4:3 resolution

now it works with wide screen (16:9)

thanks to yanomami's beautiful bootscreen that allowed me to make this creation

=]

for wide screens only

added: vista style progress bar

I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong

but i am willing to help if it does

tested on windows XP professional SP3

Sorry for the inconvenience

special thanks to yanomami again =]

surely not!!!

ive used this for ages and not had a single problem. Sometimes av softwares thinks its a trojan cos the file structure mimic one of a system file, maybe thats why??

hey, just fyi, i read up about the ntoskrnl.exe file and apparently each machine can have a different version of the file regardless of their service pack level.

during the XP install, it will copy either 1 out of 4 possible ntoskrnl.exe files depending on the type of CPU the user has (single core/multi core), so as your hack may work on your machine, it may not work on other ppls.

Hi there, I have managed to sort it out by getting an xp cd and rebuilding the boot sector. Phew!!!! That will teach me to mess with things too advanced for my own computer knowledge. Thanks for your support!

Just one thing I got a personal message from someone who stated that your boot file was infected with the gadcom virus? Is this something which is known to you?

048135 In reply to mad-about-eames [2008-12-03 19:36:21 +0000 UTC]

im glad that you have sorted everything out
i realised that it was the fact that i used the boot.ini from my own computer, which uses Tune up utilities

that was why it went wrong.

and the gadcom virus?
he acused me of coding in this virus
and im like, what, 15?
i wouldnt even know where to start
so, no. i dont know anything about it

lets sure hope that i havent got the gadcom virus or what ever
because im using this bootscreen right now
:S

u r well clued up for a 15 year old! thanks for your support, I won't be tinkering with my boot.ini file ever again! Is it easier to change if you use something like styleXP?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

048135 In reply to mad-about-eames [2008-12-03 22:33:58 +0000 UTC]

i would definitely not go for styleXP
how ever
i would go for something called
Tune up utilities
its really good
it cleans your computer up with loads of excellent tools
and you can customize it

or just follow my new instructions and do it that way
it will definitely work

hello thanks for the reply, no I cannot boot up in any mode it keeps coming back with the same message and I do not have the original windows xp disc as it was pre-installed when bought.

do u have any suggestions as i want 2 just revert 2 how the computer was before it crashed.

i have also connected the hard drive 2 another computer and deleted newboot file, replaced the hal.dll with one from an earlier service back update and it does not work. i have even tried 2 edit the boot.ini file but it has not worked

what can i try next? help would b very much appreciated.

048135 In reply to mad-about-eames [2008-12-02 16:34:34 +0000 UTC]

you have to use an original boot.ini

or replace everything you have thats in the boot.ini with

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

it should work as thats the default one from the microsoft website

try that if it doesnt work let me know
