An Iris x Shun Fanfiction:

"Lollipop"

Per usual in a kindergarten, the whole class was taking a nap...well, supposedly, taking a nap except for a little girl, who was crying behind the tree in the playing area. It always happens whenever they had their nap time. It wasn't her fault in the first place. She was always avoided by others, because, they simply see her as a freak or as a demon.

"Red-eyed freak" or "Red Onna," they always say because of her unusual red-colored pair of eyes.

Today didn't seem different. Whenever they call her that way, she manages to stay strong but cry later when all of her classmates are fast asleep. Little did she know, today was a bit different, because, a young boy woke up in the middle of their nap time.

"Ne~ Iris-chan~"

This surprised the crying girl. She turned her head left and right to see if anyone was there, but, she didn't saw anyone. Was the tree she was leaning on talking to her?

"Why are you crying?"

She, who had decided innocently that it was the tree talking, answered with full honesty.

"Because of my red eyes..."

The 'tree' chuckled, "But wouldn't your eyes turn even more red that way? By crying?"

Quickly, she wiped her tears.

"You just wiped your tears didn't you?"

Surprised, she wondered how the 'tree' noticed, "How did you...?"

"Ano ne~ You don't have any friends, do you?"

"H-Hai..." The girl looked down.

"And you wanted friends..."

The girl nodded, "Hai..."

"Maybe, I can be your first friend~ If the others only say bad things about you, then you can't call them your friends you know? You don't have to push yourself too hard to befriend them."

She heard a rustle of grass behind her, then, felt a shadow hovering above her. Iris looked up to see one of her classmates.

"Shun...?"

The young boy grinned and fished out a lollipop from his pocket, offering it to her, "Here."

The girl only looked puzzled.

"We're friends now, aren't we? Now, cheer up and have my last lollipop~"

Iris eyes teared up for the second time and opened her lollipop. Putting it inside her mouth, she hugged Shun full of appreciation and gratitude. For the first time in her life, she received such a wonderful blessing in her world full of only curse and rotten luck.

"Thanks Shun!"Short Epilogue

Meanwhile, their teacher found out two of her students were missing. Seeing them in the playing area, she went her away towards them and called out to them.

"Hey! Why aren't you sleeping?"

Shun and Iris looked at each other with a grin and ran away from their teacher.

"Oi! Get back here!"
