Description
The moonlight forest was quiet. Too quiet. It made a shiver crawl up my spine and turn my insides ice cold.
Why was I feeling this way? Why did I get this eerie feeling something was following me in this night on my journey? Should I investigate? Or continue? What would Loyal Blade do?
Loyal Blade was my older brother and the reason I was even on this journey. He had left home a few years ago and left a letter saying I could follow when I was able to handle myself on the journey. I left as soon as I felt ready without a word to my parents, just like Blade. Why were we so eager to leave home? Simple; our parents do not love us and there is no home there.
Now, I'm on my way to find a town called Ponyville, the town were my brother now resides. At least, I hope he's there or else this will be a long journey. Though this is the creepiest night on my journey and I've only went through two so far. What could be creeping me out so much?
Crunch. Snap.
I turned with a glare on my face. Something was definitely following me; those sounds only confirmed my suspicions.
"Why are you following me? Who are you?" I growled.
"Aw, is that anyway to treat me, Rave?" said a snide male voice.
My eyes widen as I instantly recognized the voice. It belonged to the stallion that stole and destroyed my trust and made me only worse than I already was.
He appeared from the shadows, a dark green stallion with a dark brown mane. He wore a hoodie that shadowed his eyes and on his flank, his Cutie Mark looked like claw marks that were bleeding.
"Why are you here, Hunter?" I said, giving only a more menacing glare, but I knew his glare would be only even scarier than mind if he revealed his face completely, "I thought you have that panda mare."
"I'm only using her, silly." he smiled, "I still love you."
"Love? The only thing you ever felt towards me was lust and desire! You broke my heart and my trust and now it's hard for any stallion to gain enough trust to allow me to let them call me theirs!"
He simply chuckled and stepped closer as I stepped back. Hunter flipped off his hoodie to reveal eyes that were gouged out and bleeding; how he survived and could see was a mystery to everypony.
"Go away." I commanded, "You only bring me pain and misery."
"That's what I love about you, my dear Rave Treble." he smirked, "You're scared and that only makes me love you more."
"No, it doesn't!" I yelled, "Fear only makes you want to assert more power over the mare you've set your sights on! I'm not scared of you! I only feel hatred toward you!"
"If you're not scared, why did you step back?"
"Shut up!"
"Come on, Rave; admit it. Fear only makes you want me even more. You want a stallion to have power over you and make you do their every command."
"No, I don't! That's not love! I want love! You feel no such thing! Leave me be now!"
He laughed and said, "I'll do no such thing. Maybe beating you will make you see the truth."
I took initiative though and head-butted him right in his chest to knock him off his feet before turning to gallop away. He continued to laugh from behind me as he got up to chase me.
"It's no use, Rave! You know I'm going to win you over just like all those times in the past! Even when your stupid brother advised against it!" he bellowed.
'Blade...' I thought, 'I hadn't listened to him about Hunter before, but now I wouldn't ignore his past advice again. I wouldn't let Hunter fool me again.'
"Stop, Rave!" said a voice in my head. Blade. "Running will do nothing! He will continue to follow you! Fight and win! That's your only hope!" It wasn't really him saying this to me, but I knew it would be something he'd tell me I need to do because that's how well I knew my big brother.
I stopped and turned to my follower.
"So, my beautiful little mare, have you finally come to your senses?" the dark green stallion asked, smirking.
My face was blank though, except for my eyes; they were filled with rage and hope. He was not going to win. When he saw my face, he was utterly shocked. That moment of distraction was perfect for my charge. I slammed right into him like before and knocked him down again. I didn't flee this time though instead I stood over him.
"You want fear?" I said flatly, "Here's your fear. Fear me!"
I knew of one weak spot on Hunter, his eyes. They hurt like mad when someone even lightly touched the area around them. That's what I went for; I slammed my hoof over and over against his head right in his bloody eyes. I continued for a good five minutes until he started crying blood and begged me to stop.
"Don't stop!" Blade said, "Kill him!"
Unlike my brother, I was not one to kill, so I ignored my brother's voice and stepped off the stallion. He stood, but didn't look at me; he simply fled back to whence he came.
And that was that. The scary feeling I felt was gone and I simply turned to continue my journey to reunite with my brother. Hunter would never mess with me again.
