I remember in 3rd grade sitting down and watching the Hobbit by Rankin/Bass. I fell in love with not just the story and art, but with something deeper awakening inside me. I knew from that moment forward which direction I wanted to take with my life. This is my work in progress of turning the Rankin/Bass version of Gollum into 3d. Still have some miles to go but wanted to share my progress. I love the Weta version of Gollum, but feel there is something more sinister about the Rankin/Bass version.Created in in Maya and Mudbox.

Well this looks absolutely astounding!! I wish you luck in your dream and I cannot wait to see what becomes of this WIP!!! This was always my favorite version of Gollum. He had a much more lasting impact and didn't seem as silly as the one in the CGI movie. Plus the actor bringing him to life was just AMAZING. You could feel the crushing weight of pain and insanity in his every word, flying from woeful howls to frothing rages.

he looks much more accurate to the book. I've read it long time ago but I can remember gollum was black with big bright eyes
