oooh cool
but i was thinkin not transparent, not very viscous with a bit of air left

our original idea was to put an LED in the little tube and have colored water around it. but that ended up not working at the convention so we were left to improvise lol the gun also kinda fell apart bc of the heat D< but if we fix her back up i think i want to use that gel candle stuff and an LED

I've thought of some permanent goop stuff you can put in the tubes that won't go off ! Well, if you haven't thought of that first of course ?

That should have been done instead of hot glue. I'm gonna use apoxy when I fix it and really secure it there!

The LEDs we got were total fail, so we'll have to figure out a way to have liquid in the outertube and a light in the inner tube so we can get the effect we oh so need! XD

For the leds I don't know, I'll tell you when I make my own xD
But for the goop inside that will give a good effect I have the perfect idea. You know those fancy goopy candlestick things you can buy nowadays ? The ones that look liquid ? That's what I'm thinking about, you can buy that stuff about anywhere to make your own candle thingies.

Basically you just buy it, cut it, melt it and then you can colour it with food colour stuff and then put it in a decorated glass to dry. It's completely transparent to begin with, and it comes in sort of small plastic buckets ? I don't know if it's gonna be good but it's probably worth a shot ?

You can get UV-reactive fluid from case-modder sites like xoxide, and they also sell UV LEDs... I'm just thinking aloud. It might get heavy if you put fluid in it, though. And you have the potential for leaks due to air pressure change if you take it on an airplane (can you imagine trying to take something like that in your carryon?)

Gorgeous work.

oh, what great ideas! I had no idea they had UV LEDs! XD

I did end up putting fluid in it and it was really no problem carrying it around. But, yes there is a problem with leakage on long trips lol But so far we only do Texas conventions we are drive to. That proved interesting in that in the summer it got so hot inside the car it melted the hot glue DX Only apoxy from now on lol

Thanks so much!

it was actually pretty simple, in comparison to other things. the best part was getting to be creative and mocking it up. the hardest things was actually figuring out how to do what you wanted in real life hehe

this is really badass, shay did a great job. will the tubes have fluid in them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

10thMuse In reply to apertureashley [2009-05-21 02:54:32 +0000 UTC]

yep! i figured out a way to super glue/hot glue and lid after we pried out the innards. the little tubes with have LEDs in them and the outside with be filled with honey or jelly or something thick and goopy to glow with the LEDs!

apertureashley In reply to 10thMuse [2009-05-21 02:58:26 +0000 UTC]

so cool!!!! maybe put a little bit of food dye in 2 of the mixtures to show that they are each a different things? like red or green or whatever (those seem like medicinal colors to me lol... herbs and shit being ground up or whatever)

10thMuse In reply to apertureashley [2009-05-21 03:08:50 +0000 UTC]

yeah! we are doing that too! completely forgot lol. we will be doing it in the akon room bc we have to sauter the LEDs to the batteries and they only last so long! lol so you will get to see it in creation stage! hehe
