Description Maybe a little soft.

Totally accidental capture as I stumbled forward.

Cheers dude,

I love bees, seeing the fluff and pollen stick to them is so cool. I just need better methods of shooting them in mid air.

I think I'm gonna be getting some lightgates

Do you use a pentax? If you do there is a function called catch in focus that automatically takes a shot (in manual focus) when the centre dot finds focus, it's how I got so many of my macro's in focus

I really want to get a photo of a bee now! Haha they look soo call, there is a thing called a raynox dsc150 (I believe) that you attach to your telephoto lens to turn it into a macro lens, but I don't think this will help for what you want, haha I read someone who puts their camera on shot burst mode and boosts ISO and moves into the shot to attempt to get the shot in focus and use stack image function in photoshop to combine a few different shots at different focal points, I've not done it yet but I can see where it would work

THat sounds like an awesome feature!!

I used to use an old Pentax, but now I'm on Nikon. Much better over all to be honest

It's good for prime lenses or full manual lenses I recon, you can only use it with the phase AF (opposed to contrast based AF in live view) so it needs to be decently lit, if using a f/1.8 prime though there is not problems with light, mainly if your shooting at f/22 or something to that effect.

Haha I hear that a lot, I'm a religious tech junkie, I love knowing about all the latest cameras and gear, I'm especially impressed with Sony at the moment. Anyhoo, Nikon better than Pentax, Maybe back in the day, Pentax is pretty high up there these days, First off you have the 645D affordable Medium format 40MP (same sensor as the leica s2 but not $30k lol) that has 77 metering segments and a very accurate and quick AF system so it doesn't skimp on the important stuff to just deliver the pixels for the buck.
I've read all different comparisons and tests and reviews and once upon a time I would have definitely agreed with you, it's changed, as all things do, it's definitely possible this all could change in a few months time, technology changes rapidly these days. I'm not fanboyish, I like all the camera brands, I bought the K-x because it seemed like the best value for money entry level DSLR on the market at the time after comparing and willing to buy in on any brand, but comparing sample images, Sensor and feature info\tests plus price, the K-x seemed like a no brainer. Then willing to jump ship in buying something more pro level (again not being biased) the K-5 based on all the above was a no brainer, although at the time I was a bit weary of the AF performance because in the past the Sony, Nikon and Canon equivalents outperformed Pentax in terms of AF no questions asked, but after reading test results from a German magazine that apparently never used to be fond of Pentax (so you know they aren't making stuff up here) showed the K-5 out doing it's self in terms of AF performance and performing best in the competition based on 1000 real world shots with many different lenses. Plus Pentax's weather sealing is a nice touch, I like that I can use my camera safely in a monsoon, or under the shower lol (provided I have a WR lens attached) The lens availability has yet to be an issue for me as these days sigma and tamron are making some pretty serious lenses for a very competitive price, take the Tamron 70-200mm f2,8, a famous lens, Canon L clearly leads this race, all other brands are either slower or optically inferiour by comparision, I mean lets face it, Canon L lenses are absolutely amazing (based on lab tests of mtf, chr abr, distortion, vignetting, stigma, af speed, light transmission, build quality, etc etc) but the price is a real put off. The Tamron tested optically similar to the Canon L, however is uses screwdriver based AF rather than having it's own focus motor and it has no IS (SR, OS etc) plus since screwdriver AF is for lens provisions it tends to under preform on cameras that prefer to have built in AF motors. Sony and Pentax use Sensor based IS and the screwdriver AF is their primary focus method so these downsides Canon and Nikon owners find, the latter have no complaints in terms of AF performance, which means a lens that only costs $600 AUD can perform similarly to one that costs $3000 AUD, and to me, that is one hell of a deal! Build quality is still a downside, and that terrible Manual focus bayonet style switch are downsides but is learn to live with those things, you'd be more than happy

The Pentax K-5 I find will out perform any camera (currently) for landscapes, it's sensor captures the most amount of Exposure info per RAW than any camera on the market today, even your Hasselblad's and Phase One P65+ or the D3x etc, it's truly a feat for a camera that only costs $1,300, I like Pentax because they keep surprising me with new real world performance boosts that no one expects from an underdog like Pentax, I also tend to find Pentax users are generally people who do a lot of research on their cameras and look at sensor rankings and feature comparisons ets. That said I really like Nikon, I actually really like Canon DSLRs too, I can't wait to see the 5D MkII, the MkII is pretty damn impressive. I have used the D5000 extensively, I used it before I bought my K-x and I found I preferred the K-x at the time, although the D5000 AF-C destroyed the K-x's AF-C the K-5's AF-C out does them both, but we're talking camera's in a different class here to it's an unfair comparison, I found they both (k-x and D5000) delivered much in the same quality of photos yet the K-x cost about $400 less, plus the generation gap (a year makes a big difference these days, lol as I said technology moves way too fast) and Sony, Man the Nex-5C and A77 will be amazing cameras! The Nex series is great for people who want aps-c in in an affordable and small body with great features and quality, the A77 24MP FF with 100 segment metering.. I mean the transluscent mirror will cause some light loss to the view finder, but so far that's the only bad thing I can say about it, 12FPS, sweep panorama (A really handy feature and quite good) I could go on for ages, haha I really do love all camera's even point and shots impress me, the Olympus SZ30MR is a point and shoot with 25-600mm lens! f3-6.6~ it's pretty sweet for a pocket camera, 16MPx (using the Sony 9.7MP pixel shifted and interpolated to 16MPx, same sensor as the HX9V uses) or even the Fujifilm X100 is awesome, it has a better sensor than the D90 but it fits in your pocket, fixed lens is a bummer though, the prime that's attached is quite good quality, the camera is aimed at the old school 'walk back and forward to zoom' crowd lol and no phase AF (beccasue it's mirrorless) is a downside, it still seems to do well considering it's contrast based though.
Haha Anyway that's my rant lol, I'm a bit of a Camera fanatic so it hurts when I hear people speaking ill of poor old Pentax when they are doing so well these days.

I know each bee only produces a teaspoon of honey in its life.
