Thank you so much!
And yes, it's orange and yellow with white stripes going down the leaves - the colors kind of graduate... it's a cool flower because of that really. I spent that day hunting flowers looking for the most interesting ones - and found these growing wild in the ditches. This is the true color of them: I took several photo's that day at various exposures and went with the most contrasty picture for the contest.

I love these flowers, they have rizoma roots I guess that is what they are called, they are not a bulb plant.I planted these this spring hopely next year will get flowers.
Getting back to your photo, starting with this rich color of oranges and yellow helped give your black and white photo a darker contrast and beautiful shades. The white stripes defines every petal .Then, you surely know how to use your camera. Beautiful work!
You live in a beautiful place you surely will never have a problem of not finding something interesting to photogragh!!
Will try myself to take a B/W when mine bloom. Happy picture taking.

I think here at CRPhotography we are all quit on each others level, and there for chances are quit even. Sometimes I think we should just change the challenge from a contest into a peer review. Like have every week a theme ending in a round of peer poll voting where the outcome decides the position of an entry in a feature showing all entries. Not so much because of the democratic approach as for the community approuch. Now the results are used to announce the next theme and to enter your entry. But then you could f.i. use the journal to discuss the outcome with each other.
But for now I love how you and f.i. bergunty show where your work comes from. I try to do the same and we all benefit from it.

True that thats one way to see it. Although I do not feel so free to speak before challenge is over. You always run the risk that well ment advise is interpreted wrong. And that happens enough with me :-P

True...it depends on artist to artist. I look at the artist's description to see if they welcome constructive advice, or if I know them well enough to take it!

Thats why I now have the critisism thingy standard on. If you look at the past of art, there was more talk then production. What have we come too?

Peer review can be nice, but it's often nice for someone at a higher level than you to judge your work, they often see things we don't, and if they judge your work down you can compare and improve. So it's rather 50/50 on that, both has it's benefits. I think we could still use the journal to discuss the results though.
I get frustrated when I see photography posted with no mention of the exif data. That to me is important, I often see pictures that are gorgeous and it is a helpful learning tool to know how that was achieved so that I can work on better results myself. There are always tons of factors that we cannot know such as cloud conditions, just how bright was that sun and so forth, but it's definitely a starting point and something interesting to know. I definitely agree with you there!

Sure you are right , up to the you can compare and improve part. The only thing I can learn from this is how I am placed against other contenders. It really says nothing why I won or ended bottoms up. So no real info to improve, But we could start a thread on that after every chalenge, that would be something to learn from and improve.
Yes I agree exif is really a must. Thats why I love reviews of glass and bodies, they usually come with nice info.
