I don't mind all the penguins thrown in my face for the holidays (any excuse for them, right?) but it never ceases to make me at the same time. Southern hemisphere is in the height of summer right now, and the Emperor penguins are basking in the midnight sun, swimming in the frigid ocean, and gorging themselves on fish. Helping Santa at the butt-ass cold North Pole is the last thing they want to do.

And oh godz.. I can sympathize.. Teeshirt and shorts under jeans and a sweater, with over-coat, boots and mits and hat, just to go outside. I love snow but I'm thankful it only lasts a short season, and not the whole year around.

I know! I feel like one of those polar explorers sometimes. Weirdly enough our area has been downright balmy all December. It gets below freezing at night most of the time, but the highs in the days are usually in the forties!
