ahhhhhhh, kitty jo.....one of my first cartoon crushes, and a character that i always thought deserved more respect than she got when the CCs were first on the air......i remember writing a letter to Hanna-Barbera suggesting they put her behind a piano and make her a keyboard player in addition to a singer(would make it kinda hard to see her dance, but there's probably a way to work around that)......if she were an active songstress nowadays, i think she would make a wonderful Bonnie Raitt surrogate!!

If only I had Boomerang...XD The pic is great.
Even this band had a couple of suggestive songs to their repetoire, a little side note. But then again, this was the late 60's and a bit of the early 70's, so every cartoon was doing that. XD

Well really when you get down to it at a point in the cartoon age for Hanna and Barbara they re-used a lot of characters, so there would be like Five Daphs while there is maybe 10 Shaggys. There was this one female lead that was Creepy hot she was the Funky Phantom she just never blinked in the show which made her that great kinda babe!

Hanna-Barbera produced the "Cattanooga Cats" cartoon show and was broadcast from 1969 to 1971. Kitty Jo (voice of Julie Bennett) was part of the feline rock group which included the leader "Country" (Bill Callaway), drummer "Groovey" (Casey Kasem), and short cello player "Scoots" (Jim Begg). They went tour from town to town and performed songs in music video-type segments as the basis of the episodes. Chessie (Julie Bennett) was a fan who usually chased after the guys in the band. One of the singers was Mike Curb who later became the lieutenant governor of California in the late 1970s.
The hour show had separate segments "It's the Wolf!", "Motormouse and Autocat", and "Around the World in 79 Days".

The show was intended to be ABC's answer to "The Banana Splits" on NBC during that time...also produced by Hanna-Barbera.
Music band hi-jinks with short cartoons in between in both hour shows...only the Splits were guys in suits while the Cats were animated.

It's weird tho - never did see any of the miscellaneous HB stuff - granted there weren't that many episodes so i'm not surprised ^_^

"Cattanooga Cats" ran for one season in its original hour format. The second ABC season had split "Motormouse and Autocat"/"It's The Wolf" and "Cattanooga Cats"/"79 Days" into separate half hour rerun shows. The show wasn't shown in reruns much after its Saturday AM run.
"The Banana Splits" had the benefit of being rerun weekdays in syndication after its NBC Saturday AM run for most of the 1970s.
Other Hanna-Barbera programs ("Gulliver", "Atom Ant", "Secret Squirrel", "Huck Finn"...all not originally shown in the NBC "Splits" program) were added to the off-network rerun package with the wraparounds with the Splits characters in addition to the original Splits segments "Danger Island", "Three Musketeers", "Arabian Knights", and "Micro Ventures" to create a total of around 120 half hour episodes under the "Banana Splits" title.
I grew up watching this stuff so it sticks in my memory pretty well.

Julie Bennett is also the voice of Cindy Bear, "Yogi Bear's" girlfriend.
...which explains Kitty Jo's Southern drawl.
