Description second update on my 3d Jenny project.
I am working on more refined modeling of the previous blocks .
And I am only working with NURBS for now .

The design is something between the original character , and some of my adaptations . like the segments in her belly , and the existence of something under the skirt armor .

The jet pig tails , and the boots will receive lots of detailing .

more updates soon .

btw , take a look on the version without the skirt .

Are you using Maya?

Btw what are the advantages/disadvantages of using NURBS? Never looked so much into it as our tutor said that you use polygons 99% of the time.

Radical!! Kinda looks like you used Solidworks for those 3D drawings! (I might be wrong though)

Love the way you worked out the hip structure. Much like a modeling figurine, but with more finesse.

The parts behind the skirt maybe looks so big in the front and her butt needs more definition! but you're doing something great with NURBS! (you're using rhinoceros maybe?)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

14-bis In reply to kenbattou [2008-11-11 20:24:11 +0000 UTC]

No , I am only using MAYA 2009 .
Dont worry , those parts will be re-worked , when I convert them to polygons .
NURBS are good but they have their limitations

ujinko [2008-11-11 19:47:00 +0000 UTC]

im use NURBS only by the basic shape,
later i convert to poly and continue with detail.
you will animate jenny?
or just model and maybe texturing and setup ^__^?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

14-bis In reply to ujinko [2008-11-11 20:25:58 +0000 UTC]

My idea is to make some animations with her .
but first , I will produce some nice renders .
this model will help me with my future drawings , and with my real sculpture of her

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ujinko In reply to 14-bis [2008-11-11 20:36:59 +0000 UTC]

cool ^__^, are you doing a real sculpture of jenny, i wanna see ^_^.

i use maya for modeling but by now i can't work because i have no time,
i work doing web comics ^__^, i like to make some 3D cartoons too, by now i have only some rough models.

if you export this jenny for Zbrush, maybe you can add a lot more details in an easy way ^__^.

yes ..in the past , I used nurbs to model entire robots .
not even a single polygon.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JonathanFesmire In reply to 14-bis [2008-11-13 16:16:07 +0000 UTC]

I'm an MFA student majoring in 3D Modeling at AAU. I still have a ways to go, and have modeled only one robot so far. I used a mixture of polygons and NURBS. I also modeled a car almost entirely in NURBS, then converted it to polygons. That also works very well, and keeps those nice, accurate, smooth curves when you convert correctly.
