Okay, so for those of you who don't watch/read Fairy Tail, these two are the main characters, Natsu and Lucy. The anime/manga takes place in Fiore, a kingdom where magic is commonplace, and as such there are wizards in guilds who make their living by doing things for other people as requests, or jobs. After a ton of shit happens with a dark guild of demons made by Zeref, a legendary evil wizard, Natsu leaves for a year to train. It's not mentioned WHY he left, but I have a headcanon (though I think a lot of other people have assumed this, too). Yeah... this will take some explaining. The explanation is below, separated from the rest of the description so that if you want to, you can skip it UvU

Natsu is known as a dragon slayer, a type of wizard that has been trained by a dragon. They are very rare (there are only seven in the whole series, and of those seven, five of them were ACTUALLY raised/trained by dragons. The others had a magical substance implanted in them to give them this magic) probably because dragons are not really common. In Fiore, they are considered legendary creatures, even mythical by many people. Unfortunately for the dragon slayers, on a certain day (July 7th, X777) all of their dragons suddenly disappeared. They essentially raised them, so this was like losing their parents. Natsu looked for YEARS to find Igneel, the dragon that raised him, but had no luck. His scarf/muffler is actually a gift given to him by Igneel.
The dragon slayers have a strong role in this battle because it's revealed what happened to their dragons. When all hope seems to be lost, suddenly the dragon slayers are overcome with an strange feeling; their hearts start racing, they're unable to stand, etc. Then, the dragons that raised them, along with many more, I'd assume, destroy the tools the dark guild is preparing to destroy all magic (these tools are basically giant face statues rising out of the ground, and there was too many of them to destroy in time. Even so, they were very difficult to destroy, if my memory serves right). Meanwhile, the evil dragon, Acnologia, known as the Apocalypse dragon, joins the battle. No magic can hurt a dragon other than dragon slayer magic, and even so, the main characters have faced him before and failed to defeat him with three dragon slayers. Igneel fights him, and Natsu is overwhelmed by emotion of seeing his father again after so long. Unfortunately, Igneel dies in this fight. We learn later on that the dragons were already dead, in a way, as they disappear after explaining what happened to them. They were inside the dragon slayers in order to prevent them from turning into dragons, as that can happen with dragon slayer magic. Their job is done, and they leave forever.
If my memory serves right, Natsu didn't hear that last part, and in his mind, Igneel wouldn't be dead if he hadn't have lost the fight. To him, Acnologia just killed his father right in front of his eyes. I think that he left to train for a year in order to get strong enough to face and defeat Agnologia to avenge his father's death. We have yet to learn whether this is true or not, though.

Now that THAT'S over with xD;;
In the manga, Natsu has already returned to find that the guild disbanded. Thankfully, he reunites with Lucy. Many people (including myself) ship these two, and we all know that she's really mad at him for leaving the way he did (all he did was leave a note, after all. I don't blame her- I'd be pretty mad, too). This picture is part of another headcanon, I guess you could say, where Lucy lashes out at him one day for leaving, and after her anger subsides, all she does is hug him, cry, and tell him to never to do that again. I don't draw hugs too often, so I messed up xD;; let's just say she's leaning in to hug him UvU;;
I want to go over this digitally, and I plan to, but I didn't have the motivation or energy to do that, because then I'd have to do the lineart again by tracing over this and then do everything else, and I just don't feel like doing that lately. I wanted to try finishing it traditionally at least, so I grabbed some pencil crayons, and fine tip felt pen, and got to work. I know there are a few mistakes, and I really wish I could fix them, but it's not like I have an "undo" button here xD;; but if I do this digitally (which I hope I will) I'll avoid making those mistakes ^^
