I use APophysis to make fractals, if I'm using a fractal as I did in this case. I put together the GIF frames in Photoshop, usually changing the HUE by an increment like 15, 30, 45, etc., in each frame. Then I put the GIF stills together using GIF Movie Gear from [link] which is a very, very, very cool and easy to use animation program. I paid to register it, but there's a 30 day free trial so you can decide if it's worth it to you to pay for it. A single user license is $29.95. I imagine you can animate and resize just about anything you want with this program.
There's another program I've used, JASC Animation Studio. It's expensive, a little harder to use, but has built-in transition effects. If you use that, you don't have to do every frame individually in your photoshop if you want something as simple as hue rotation. You can work with just a single image. There are lots more transition effects. You can see in my gallery I have some animations that were made with JASC Animation Studio. I've also used a program called Reflet that is freeware, to make wave animations with reflections. That is a really cool little program if it's still available.

I've never done animated gifs with Adobe 7. If you figure out how to do it please let me know! I imagine that you'd have more control that way.

Cool animation. But yes, I think the sugar coating needs to go. Maybe the kid will give up.
