Description When I went on my trip this weekend to see all the geological sites I could absorb in four days in eastern Utah, I also made a point of collecting "textures" in this incredibly rich area.

This is not rust. This is not something off of google earth. This is a real texture of what is left behind after a geyser goes. Geysers leave some awesome awesome textures in the ground around them from all the minerals and water they spew. Usually you can't walk right up to one because they are hot, but this one was a cold water geyser and as soon as I was sure it was quite through I walked right up to it and went mad with my little crappy camera. Enjoy.

Here is one of my favorites. While it is for your use in noncommercial photomanips and digital paintings, I expect that you will be polite and request its use from me before using it, informing me what you will be using it for and how you intend to do so, and will notify me afterward with a link to your deviation. I also ask that you credit me with the texture. Thank you. Violators will be dealt with.

Looks like it's been a while since this got some attention ^^
I've been looking for a very strong rock texture for a digital painting of mine, and this looks perfect.
Do you mind if I use this for the mountain?

It looks like a slab of agatized rock, or . . . petrified wood.

Thanks. Actually, this is mostly orange and white travertine, a kind of calcium carbonate deposit left behind by the water coming from the cold water geyser that was releasing carbon dioxide gas. This particular deposit is very biotic, with lots of algae and bacteria encrusted in it. It's not limestone, though sometimes confused with it, but it has that kind of smell to it. This here is very young travertine and in some other photos I will upload you can see the terracing effect the running water has made to it. It's gorgeous.

I'd like to attempt use in this as a texture/brush in a digital work, if it's perfectly all right.
