except phantom hourglass is one of those games that makes you name the player character so now Link is running around with a weird girl's name and I'm just like... "Did y'all really not think that one through???" XD gives me such weird vibes when an NPC uses my name for Link wtf

Yeah XD all the games are like that and I kinda forget about it, the only game that doesn’t do that is breath of the wild... but I always stick to Link because I just can’t name him something else

That’s his default name
Don’t mind me as I infodump you but the first legend of Zelda game had the idea that Link would travel to the past and future and he was the “link” between the two so they named him Link.
If you think about it in a lot of the games Link is a link between a lot of things

Every other time I boot up phantom hourglass I'm greeted with an eerie cutscene of Tetra/Zelda calling for help and using my real name with the main theme slowed down in the background. It's freaky but because it shows up every other time I don't know when to prepare myself for it lol.

Zelda does seem to have a creepy streak? I have a very distinct memory of watching bits of playthroughs of majora's mask and that whole game is. Freaky. You do side quests and get to know everyone in the 24 hours before they all DIE

Ok well I mostly love it because link has established relationships which is really sweet and so there’s a lot of amazing characters involved. It humanizes him more. But it’s disturbing as heck. It’s the only Zelda game rated T instead of E. There are shadow beasts that are nightmare fuel, horrifying implications (it is subtly implied that shadow beasts are actually people so youre killing people who have been turned into them) and the music is the cherry on top, the music is so scary and the game is sad as well in some parts (some kids get kidnapped and you can see how terrified they are and how terrified the parents are)
