Description The Feyor are a notorious species that at the best of times is seen as piteous and at worst contemptuous by other space-faring species, a reputation they dislike, but do little to discredit.  It should also be noted that over half of the illegal drugs that circulate through the interstellar black-market are derived from plants native to the Feyor's home world, which is how they can afford to get the materials needed to be an interstellar race.

Home World (Murk): A cold and damp world in the outer region of their star's habitable zone, Murk is covered in swamps, shallow oceans, and Coniferous forests divided by hills, all that remains of mountain ranges scoured nearly flat by glaciers from ice ages long past.

Physiology: The Feyor are a species of egg-laying, warm-blooded amphibians. They have a toad-like head, disproportionately long, gangling arms.  Their hands and feet have four digits each with some webbing between them.  Most of a Feyor's body is covered in shaggy, often greasy fur.  Feyor are a diminutive species with males averaging in height around 3 feet tall, while females being generally larger than the males, averaging in height closer to 4-4.5 feet in height (so yes, the one on the right represents a typical female of the species while the one on the left representing a typical male).  While Feyor do have a layer of fat to insulate themselves from Murk's cold climate, most Feyor would still be considered overweight even by their own physiology, and having access to more sophisticated farming technology has only served to exasperate this.  One thing that should be noted about Feyoran physiology is their body's remarkable ability to purge toxins and foreign agents from their bodies, to-date no currently known poison has any known effect on the Feyor, and it has been shown that they can consume narcotics and other such drugs without developing a physical dependence on the drug, nor suffer the ill-effects of withdrawal like other species.

Society: A highly narcissistic species, the Feyor live in various warring city-states which themselves are often on the verge of anarchy as various cliques within the city can often barely tolerate one another.  These cities don't seem to be established according to available resources, rather it seems that Feyoran settlements will typically spring-up around features, natural or otherwise) they consider interesting and then they will either expand on the feature or erect ramshackle building around it until it develops into a full-size city-state. Being notoriously lazy, Feyor believe that they are entitled and shouldn't have to do hard work to get what they want, an idea so prevalent that the majority of Feyoran religions are variations on the message of "The universe owes you something", this is evident on how little they actually produce, in fact they really have no idea how most advanced technology works, They generally just buy this technology off other species and then modify them to suit their own needs.  Even Feyoran upbringing only further continues this nature, once their eggs hatch, the parents will either largely ignore them except to tend to only their most basic needs because they can't be bothered to upset their own lives to better care for their offspring, or they will tote them around more like pets or fashion accessories than actual children until they are old enough to express individual thought at which point the parent will simply abandon them.

First-contact: First contact with the Feyoran was largely by accident, a small mining company had gotten mineral rights to the planet and upon discovery of sapient life on it concocted a plan; by interstellar law they would have to report the discovery at which point all rights to the entire system would default to the native species with all previous claims being null-and-void, which would mean they, the mining company, would lose-out on any profits.  So they would locate a near-surface deposit of some valuable mineral in what they believed was an out-of-the-way corner of the planet and mine as much as they could before having to report their discovery, they would play dumb, claiming that they didn't know until mining was well underway; they would still get fined, but their hope was that they would have mined enough rare minerals by then that even after the fines they might still make a profit off all this.  This plan went completely awry when a group of local Feyor stole an unattended freighter and took it on a joy ride first through their own system, then through whatever system was pre-programmed into it's computer (which was the Sol system).  There were arrests and the mining company lost it's mining permits, completely destroying the company.  With all their facilities, equipment, and ships left abandoned on Murk, the Feyor used this equipment to build their own interstellar empire.
