Description My own take on the troll from Northern European mythology.

Actually this was much more frustrating than you might think because, as it turns out, there isn’t much of any physical description of the thing. All I could find is that they were big, ugly, and ‘had long noses to stir their porridge with’, sometimes they were described as having ox tails but this isn’t consistent.

So in my take I made the nose more of a long prehensile trunk like an elephant or tapir so they can more literally “stir their porridge” with it. I also gave them a gorilla-like knuckle-walking posture to emphasize that these things are bestial monsters. And as a bit of a tie-in to a primate ancestry, they have long claws only on their fingers and toes, and a flat nail on their thumbs.

At least this was my version anyway.

Done in ballpoint pen and markers.
