Description Another variation on Aran's blaster. An optional side scope for longer range targets. He can't change out the sight already on it due to the fact he welded it on.

This what it looks like when it fires. I hope I get to cosplay with this thing one day.

Hmm... interesting! Custom blasters, and the advantages they provide over standard weapons, are always cool. Fits Aran quite well I think

Yeah the 212th Republic in their early days had to use whatever they could get their hands on. They had to make due with the equipment they already had with them, whatever they could buy for next to nothing, or salvage stuff.

Obviously Aran's blaster is a modified E-5 C.I.S. blaster that he got his hands on.

I remember some supplementary material for TPM taking care to mention that no one but Battle Droids can physically use a E-5. Then Padme just picks one up and shoots without a problem in AOTC. Oh well...

One of my favorite things, visually, in Star Wars is the rag-tag, barebones look of the Rebel Alliance. I'm getting the same feel from the 212th Republic, which is a very good thing

I read that too. I may not have mentioned it but Aran wears insulated gloves when firing for long periods of time do to how hot it gets during long engagements. (I did notice Padme was using it with only one hand for most of the time. I wonder if it just got too hot for her to grip it near the barrel).

Encounters that aren't that long don't require such protection as it wouldn't get hot enough for him to be able to worry about that.

Aran has taken measures however to put in a more efficient cooling system in his E-5. It's not perfect, but it still takes much longer for it to heat up and get to dangerous temperatures.

Side note:That E-5 actually has iron sights, but they're not practical for most situations. It's the hole in the rail on top of the gun. You can actually see it in the picture above.

Hmm... yeah, I can see how the side scope would be a large improvement.

The E-5 isn't one of my favorite blasters, though that's more because there are so many other cool ones to choose from (And because there was a time all Star Wars figures came with a bunch of extra blasters, including an E-5 which, true to lore, only battle droid figures could hold. So I have about 3 battle droids and 20 guns only they can use).

As far as practical goes though I assume, apart from the heating thing, the E-5 would be one of easiest to use and maintain, given that it is a Trade Federation weapon and they are known for their very basic approach to most things (Such as the Battle Droids themselves)

Side-note: my favorite blaster is actually, probably, the WESTAR-34
