I love coffee. My favorite is coffee from Yemen. My ex-husband brought me some from Egypt the first time he went there for business. The vendor in the souk mixed the dark roasted beans and light before anyone could stop him. Serendipitous! The coffee doesn't smell like usual coffee when being ground. (We joked that perhaps the beans passed through camels first ala civet cat.) Anyhow, the coffee tastes like the best coffee smells. I did find it on Amazon.

Very nice. It's good you kind find the stuff online. There is a place in Toronto i order from every once in a while that gets some great beans - and just like you say, they don't look or smell like typical coffee beans - but oh when they are ground up!! But expensive - that's why it's only a once in a while thing for me!

So expensive but so good. I wait for very special occasions that coincide with windfalls of cash. It is also on my gift list just so my daughters don't get to say that they don't know what to get me. The good thing is that my older daughter likes it as much as I do. ..Or is that a bad thing? No, it tastes even better shared though it goes twice as fast. Sigh.
I hope you gig went well.

Haha. Thanks for asking. The gig went extremely well. Not a huge crowd, but no one left, and the bar wants us back asap!!

Hopefully that means an income doing what you really love doing. Plus, let's hear it for word of mouth so crowds get bigger but not so big as to ruin the interaction between you and the audience. If that matters. Hmm. I would think it does from and audience member point of view. I never had the shoe on the other foot.

Bigger crowds are better. Yes. Hopefully the word gets around when we go back. The energy is amazing when the audience is into what you are doing. You ride a high all night long, and then, the long ride home is just awful. Ears ringing from loud amps. And your whole body is tired - even your ears! Yes. Ears. I know of no other job (and i have done many) where you have to use your ears so much, and on that ride home, you want nothing but silence! Weird, eh?

Not weird at all. I started using earplugs years ago to filter out the people sounds from the music. Actually, it was at a Beatles concert at Red Rocks, Colorado. I was having a hard time hearing the music (or myself think) with everyone screaming so I put my fingers in my ears and could hear the music. I used earplugs at swim meets so I could hear the announcements. As for tired ears, it is like when your young children talk at you nonstop for hours and you think your ears will start bleeding. Even though you love them, you just want to sit in the velvety quiet. I fully understand.

OK, yeah, that is just plain weird...but like some many other things, you cannot argue someones tastes and likes and dislikes. I absolutely hate cold coffee or coffee that has sat, even in an airtight carafe, for more than 30 mins or so. But to each their own i say! Thanks for sharing this habit of yours, Helena!

You are definitely into coffee! I still enjoy the taste of a well-made espresso (black, no sugar) occasionally, but get most of my caffeine from green tea these days (gunpowder and Sencha preferred...).
Lovely fractal to celebrate your "addiction", by the way.

Nice. I don't much go for the 'fancy' coffees (a french press is as fancy as i get). I found espresso a little bitter for my liking, even made with good beans.
For tea, it is orange pekoe all the way - PG Tips, or we have a local grocery (Loblaws), that makes a great orange pekoe. The green teas are to 'grassy' tasting for me.

Oh yes, I remember good old PG tips from my life in England. Nice tea with a shot of milk to pick you up after a cold few hours outside!

Aw. I know a few that have had to give up coffee/tea - generally for health reasons. I feel so sorry for them, especially when they enjoyed it so much!
