A pair of childhood friends that grew up during the Goldsboro Bay Nuclear Incident. They later would be shipped out to Neptune in the 80s and meet again, under equally dire circumstances

For many years after the GBNI the people of the American Southeast were plagued with hereditary conditions that led to a hypersensitivity in one or both eyes, making the person functionally blind in that eye to everything except radioactive particles/background radiation

most of the people affected would come of age during the 1980s, which lead to a mingling in new wave/industrial/goth/fetishwear fashion with hiding one or both eyes under hairstyles, eyepatches, hoods, etc.
