Description BEFORE all else fails....pray!

Just remember: God answers in His own time and own way. The answer may be "Yes", "Wait", or "No".

Hey I know it! This may sound silly to you, but I prayed that God would help the USA to win (in the World Cup game they played today)-for His Glory, and He answered my prayer.

And yes, the Lord has answered other (more important) prayers of mine recently too. So yes, prayer works! God does answer prayers!

True stuff.

The prayers will always eventually be answered. Whether we like the answer or not is irrelevant.

OMG if only the world knew this!! It really does work!! Honestly! He once made a thunderstorm go away when I asked him if he could make it go away for my little sister, who was hoping to go outside to ride her bike! He also answered so many other prayers too!! So yeah, prayer really does work, you just need to trust God with it!!

well, if you want to get deep into it, it works by faith, and faith comes from reading the Word of God. also, before you pray for something you need to make sure what youre praying for lines up with the Word. thats why so many people pray and get fruitless results (such as lnkpaws below; no offense if there is any).

Haha, none taken, even though at first I went >:C
Haha.

I can't honestly say I think I've honestly had any faith, which may, or may not, be the case in which praying has had no effect....

The things that were prays for were very massive things, I'd say (lives).
And I was asked to pray, so I merely complied and... well... I dono, I'd imagine God to be a bit skeptical to someone sitting there with part of their mind going off on their pray, and then part of the mind in tangent with its-self on him being real or not, or what have you ^.^;
Can't say I blame any of it D;

It's definitely true that God only hears the prayers of His people, so, yes, that might have been an issue.

Yes, well, even when I was one of 'His people' it didn't seem to be any different....

Don't quite find those words very fitting to the religion at hand....

Also have to remember that God will answer in one of three ways: yes, no, or wait; whichever he knows is best for us. Not what we think is. ^^

REA002 In reply to 2Timothy3-16 [2010-05-11 23:39:04 +0000 UTC]

well, not really. see, if it lines up with the Word then it will always be yes. to God, everything you demand is yes and amen if it is scripture-based and can/will be used to glorify His name. so you were right in a way, God already gave us answers, its in the Bible.

Vueiy-Visarelli In reply to REA002 [2010-06-24 18:58:15 +0000 UTC]

Except of course that we shouldn't (and can't really) demand anything of God; not our place, nor our right, although we can ask. And I'd say that if it lines up w/ God's will, then it could be either yes or wait/later (which is basically a delayed "yes").

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

REA002 In reply to Vueiy-Visarelli [2010-06-24 19:07:40 +0000 UTC]

the thing is, the Bible clearly says that all your needs are already met. why ask for whats already yours? thats why you can place a demand on what you need and expect it. now the reason for the delay is because of faith. you have to have faith that you will get it.

God doesn't always give us what we ask for. He answers according to what is the best for us, whether we may think so or not. ^^

Oh that'd be a very long list o.o

Haha xD

More or less, it concerns me how much my mother, such a wonderful woman, has been through, and yet... I don't get it.

And, please don't say God has just been testing her... pelase don't ^.^;

because, then, I'd have to wonder what int he world he is testing her for, and why for seemingly her whole life in such very strong ways

hrwilliams In reply to Inkpaws [2010-05-11 01:55:48 +0000 UTC]

*Edit - this turned out to be long. I'm sorry!*

Hah, I try to avoid cliches like "God is testing you" and "just have faith." I know they sting more than anything.

One thing I definitely think of, whenever this subject comes up... Jesus was God's only Son, and look at how His life went. And before He was crucified, He begged profusely that God would not send Him to that death if there was ANY other way of redeeming mankind.

Like my Catholic neighbor told me when I was a teenager, "The last body of Christ left the earth in pretty bad condition... why should this one be any better?"

This world is not our reward. Life sucks.

I still believe prayer works because I have seen it work. Not in healings usually, not always in external and visible ways, but as far as deeper heart matters go it definitely works. It's just that God is still God and He also reserves the right to say "no."

I could go on and on but I won't. Ha, sorry for the short essay!

I have much to say to this, but it's very bitter from being jaded not of anything faith has or has not done, but from what I have been through, and what I have seen my mother been though.
So, I shall keep it mum, in understanding of this.

However, to the 'This world is not our reward. Life sucks.'

How come that I see all these peopel doing these terrible things, and, yet, they're very merry and well off?
And, that's not just some showing they put on, it is very so.
Yet, this woman has done so much and been SO strong, yet, gets nothing in return for it.

Why are the wicked seemingly getting rewarded and the good not?
Between you and I, whereas I've never really had faith, she use to....
She no longer does, from what I gather.
So, does this mean she'll go to Hell then?
And, if so, then why when she has done absolutely nothing wrong, just feels that God has turned his back toward her?

Haha, no, longer responces are usually very useful and get more out there -nods-

If you ever feel like this is getting too personal, feel free to note me instead!

It's funny that you brought this up, because there are a few chapters in the Bible where people ask the same question. "Why are evil people having such a good time?" (I recommend these chapters for anyone who needs to vent: [link] [link] )

Is your mom going to Hell? That's between her and God. I don't know her heart. Ha, in this case I don't even know her!

To the question of why there is so much injustice in the world, all I know is this: God originally created order, and humanity chose to do things their way. We are all suffering through Adam, but there is hope in Christ.

Phew, I'm glad you like long responses! 'Cuz "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned ... For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!" [link]

"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive." [link]

Ahhah-- sorry, I realized shortly after I sent that I was rather defensive in my response there ^.^;

And, while I thank you for the opt to note and speak about the more 'personal' information, I keep that in a very securely closed door and don't let anyone in there but my-self.
Thank-you for the offer though ^.^;

I... will have to read these later, and then make comment to you as I find them.
Thank you for them though, I will be sure to have a look.

Why are we all suffering through Adam?
I suppose I could see why one might say that we are through Lilith or Eve, granted what they did, but, I don't gather the Adam thing.
Not that I know much on all that.

I had to read that aloud to understand it-- ahhahh....
And, if I did get it right, I must say I quite enjoy that quite there and will also have to read these here links a little later on.

I'm not so sure how, in Christ, we will all be made alive though-- but, I haven't yet to read /that/ link either, SOOOO ^.^;
Might be getting al ittle ahead of my-self here
((Sorry if this double posts))

Were you defensive? You seem very sweet and open-minded to me! It's totally understandable that you're frustrated, considering.

Yeah, Paul's letters... they can be tongue-twisters sometimes, haha. There are other translations at the top right bar, if that helps. (I know I use the crap out of that little bar!) And the "buried and raised with Christ" thing took me years to grasp and I probably still have more to learn... so don't feel bad!

Sorry I gave you so much reading material! I tend to do that.

The Bible doesn't blame Eve like we tend to... I can only make up random theories about why. But I've introduced enough bunny trails today!

Have a good night!

Oh, well, I suppose that is a good thing then. ^.^;
I try to be such on the subject.

Oh, no, don't apologize for the reading.
While I'm not 'into' it in the believing scene, I'm not against it and I am very fascinated by it.
I don't at all mind learning more about it.
With the conversations people like to get into with me about it, it's certainly better that I have more udner my belt then not c;

You have a good night as well, my dear.
