Shortly after I posted my NewΒ Fabric Print here, the tornado sirens started.....
Down to my Tornado Safe Room, and when I came back upΒ 1 hour later,
2 of my 60 foot willows were lying down in my backyard at my Townhouse.

Nothing was damaged on my house, and the trees did not split or tear apart,
they just laid down ever so gently between my townhouse and my garage,
and broke at the bases of the trunks.

Here is 1 of my Surviving 60 foot Willow in the Background of the Photo
and in front is the stump of 1 of the Willows that I saved for a bird/squirrel feeder.

I really miss my trees, after 25 years of planting them, nurturing them,
pruning them, and loving them, there is an emptiness in my Secret Garden
and yes, My Heart

Thank you so much for any comments or favs to my work...I do appreciate
your comments and friendship very much

It is funny how we become used to our gardens and property
and don't notice small things as the land changes...

I sat out on the deck, having my coffee....." What.....????Β  Where the heck
is my tree?"Β  Β LOLΒ  Β Who the heck stole my tree in the middle of the night.....

I get a chuckle out of meself most of the time.....

Thank you Gigi

Willows are lovely trees. Sorry to hear about this but at least they missed the house.
And on a positive note, there is the oriental expression: "you can't add to a full cup".
So I guess it is now possible to do some new plantings.

I know the loss of trees - how did the clean up go?

It's great that they loved you as much as you loved them

Thank you, I got on the phone and called 5 friends at 7 am who were doing
nothing but sleeping, LOL, and they grabbed chainsaws and a trailer and
we just started cutting and hauling off to the landfill...The temps that day
were due to be in the upper 90's so we figured that while it was cool we
would tackle this project....Woke up all the neighbors with the chainsaws
running, imagine waking up to that sound from a deep sleep.....and had
the whole thing cleaned up in 3 hours...

I do love all my trees, new suburbs going up here and people are clearcuttiing
their land to build houses...That to me my friend is a damn shame.....

new plantings, though I may hold off on replanting trees there

Now that it is cooler here in the Great Lakes Area, I am
already actively planning my new spring garden....

Cooper, my Hawk made his first appearance since last
April to look for goodies in the garden...He is a few weeks
early so I hope that does not mean we will get an early early winter.....

Too bad, I am sorry!Β

You know, you may lose trees because of tornadoes but here, in Eastern Canada, we are quite often losing trees due to ice and snow. The Winter 2017 has been particularly devastating...

heard stories of frozen trees falling in the dead of
winter....I do hope this coming winter will be not as
awful for you

thank you, up here in the Northern Great Lakes, it is
not recommended that these be planted as the wetness
as you describe will bring them down very easily....
