When watching this video on the unmade cancelled Dic Sonic sisters cartoon, DiC's Unmade/Cancelled Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoon: The Story of Super Sonic Sisters - YouTube
it was brought up that there was originally supposed to be another character added to Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Merlina the Witch. A clumsy not very skilled witch who was described as having the body of a young Elvia with the spunk attitude of Rosane.
Her motto is "Hurry Up and Wait" as she hates being rushed.... which of course can cause conflict between her and the always on the move blue hedgehog, though would love Tails, as idolizes her. Tails would be the peace maker of the trio, keeping Merlina and Sonic from butting heads.
Honestly that would have been a good shake up for the series to add a third member to Sonic and Tails' team dynamic, though weird that they would have gone with a new main character instead of a pre-established one like... I don't know. Knuckles? Amy Rose?
Sally? You pretty much established her as part of this series based on that Christmas Special you did. And besides she was used in a lot of marketing of Sonic the hedgehog over here in the west, even in that amusement park if you all remember.
But I do see the potential Merlina would have had as a character, and she would be perfect for the Adventures' more zany world.
Since there was never any official art of Merline, I went with one of the two designs made by LongcrierCat, being that of a lynx.
I think the Lynx form fits better then the human form honestly, given that pretty much almost all of Mobius are animals.
She also claims to be a direct descendant of Merlin the wizard, who by Adventures lore, was named Merlynx given her was a lynx. But then again I don't expect Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog to have strong continuity.
so here's my little take on her character. Might draw more of her sometime.
