*Destinyfall asked for a pic of Kain with less clothes on. I'm afraid this is as far as it goes - there's something quite - improper - about undressing the emperor of Nosgoth. Plus I'm pure and innocent.*runs off to hide / delete several pics of Kain in the buff from her gallery before anyone notices the hypocrisy*

The best fantasy fiction writer in the world. At least in contemporary scene. He wrote The Witcher saga. If Jackson would've read it, I bet he would've made The Witcher trilogy. The thing about all greatest things in the world - they don't come from English speaking world. Sapkowski is from Poland. Odd enough his books were translated into, like, 6 languages, but non of them is English. Well, that's about it.

This one is only an introduction to his saga. Book consists of series of short novels. Everything started when Sapkowski and some of his friends were talking about how bad modern fantasy is. Sapkowski said, that it should not be so hard to write a fantasy book without explicit sex, dumb antagonists and even dumber protagonists, with a world that has shades of gray etc. And he started with short novels.
I saw Blood of Elves on Amazon. This one is a proper book. So I really hope you are not stopping after Last Wish.
p.s. It must be the PC game that got him translated!

Yeah, the anti-hero part is what it makes perfect. And fight scenes are sketched so perfectly I can almost visualize them. That's a rare gift as it's almost impossible to do find that in written fiction. I think I need to stop at this point or I will start rambling too much..

Yes, I'd imagine the game got him the coverage he needed to get him translated. Really enjoying the Last Wish at the moment. It's really refreshing to have a protagonist that isn't a complete goody two-shoes, or a complete bastard, but something in between. Really liking the twisted fairy tales element too! And don't worry, I'll be on the look out for the next one when I finish.

That's a long trip. My place is so small that it takes 3 hours tops, to travel from one end to another. I think I have spent 13 hours on a plain once. Without books, but with a very interesting older lady from... Ukraine I think or something. Rarity!
