Description Hello, what you are looking at is our first prototype of a ward lamp.

It was entirely realized by my girlfriend and I.

We started by realising a 3D model as close as possible of a League of legend wards on Maya.

Then we adapted it for 3D printing, creating a system to obtain a solid model with no part risking of falling off.
For example the wings are firmly attached to the centre with special fixation running halfway inside the wings and the tube. The tube was adapted to receive a classic lamp holder and the crystal at the top can be taken off very easily to change the bulb.

You can see that the left wings does not have the cracks on the top the second have. I notice that the ward in game does have this hole appearing, and the future lamps will always have this cracks in each wings.

Notice that for the final product we will use a finisher (XTC-3D) to smooth everything out before painting it, here we painted directly above a model printed with a precision of 200 micron on our trusty Ultimaker 2 Extended. It already looked nice but you can see the "printing strata" on the wings which we are not found off.

I must say we are quite pleased with the result, I'll post an other pictures with a flash so you can see the details and colours betters. Pictures of a smoothed finished product should also come soon.

We also plan on doing a "wireless" one for cosplay.

Edit: Before I forgot, this print is done in Formfutura PLA, and the globe is in Formfutura HDglass. We then paint over it with an aerograph and "wicked colors".
Made in France, since we're Frenchies.

Thank you for your comment, the process is in the description, but to sum it up it was a lot of 3D modelisation, fighting with the 3D printer, and painting. It took us roughly one month to come up with a satisfying prototype.
