I'll try to explain haha,

well, first of all I duplicate the layer with the wolf on it, and I make sure to smooth one of them. And after that, I make the one I just smoothed less visible or try a different blend mode, so the hairs and shadows form the original, not smoothed version will become more visible. (just a trick to add detail and have a smooth fur) Then you'll have a nice effect of a smooth skin/fur, but the details are visible too. I like using that trick, because It makes the wolf look more "real" but u still got that nice smoothing effect.

and, after I've put the wolf in the right position ( I spent lots of time doing that, cause finding the right balance between wolf and background is really hard.) and than, the most important thing to answer your question, is that I make a new layer and put it above the wolf and background. Color it with a random color ( in this case I made two layers, one pink one and one blue one.) After the hole layer is collard, you can play with the settings. You can put the blend mode on Color, Soft Light, Multilayer ect. You'll see the effect that it gives makes the wolf and the background go more in "harmony" because the both have the same kind of color. As you can see, the pink color comes back in the background and in the wolf. Before I did this trick, my wolf just to have a different color then the background. Witch made it look fake.

Well, Its a bit hard to explain, but I hope it helped. If you still have questions, please ask! I like answering them (:

And sorry for my English. I'm originally Dutch, so there could be some mistakes or something ><

I was just wondering, how you got the wolf to blend so perfectly with the surroundings, if that's possible to answer!
