WOW! Perfect name, and I love the colors. I have GIMP but I'm not familiar with it, is it hard to use? Is there a site that has a tutorial on GIMP?

i don't know anywhere that you could find one, but i'm sure theyre out there. what i did was i made the orange render the background in gimp, trimmed the parts of the top flame that just had random blue dots around the edge in paint, then pasted it on to a pure black background, and added it as a new layer, then did a Color -> Alpha on the black of the blue fllame, making it transparent.

Nice flame, especially the colour separation and that vertical 'panel' at the top. Just need to lose those 'jaggies'...

yeah, that would probably only take a gradient rotation or something, thanks for the advice

No, just use higher oversample or render larger and reduce with a resampling filter: IrfanView, for example, has a very good, very fast, one. To squeeze more antialiasing from a size reduction, I often split it into 3 or more steps. For instance, reduction to 50% is achieved by 3 x 79%

what do you mean figure out GIMP 2?

and your welcome

GIMP stands for Gnu Image Manipulation Program, it's a free, open source Photoshop-esque application that i overlaid these fractals with. the orange and the blue parts are two seperate renderings of the same flame with a different gradient.

i know what GIMP is but why didn't you use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro?
