Description Got a new render software called "autodesk showcase". Never realized my model looks that good.

This is a spaceship form video game called Thunderforce, the ship called "Rynex" in the game. It first appeared in series 3 and 4, then 6 after ~10 years.

I found you like button and back view a lot, creepy, not like most people, they like front and top view. I guess hardcore is hardcore for reason.

Simple : Top and front view are very common while most of people almost forgot that the ship also have bottom and rear part

I starting to think like this since i got "Technical Drawing" lesson on university (you know, the time when we have to draw an object from all view). when i tried to applied the lesson to my ship design, i found that if we looking the ship from other than front and top view (which usually make our ship look`s cool)the "other" view looking no good. So then appear a thought: " well, if it doesn`t look good, the i have to make it so it will look`s good from any view " and from that experience, we could expand our detail and design range not just for the "most viewed" view, bt also the hidden part. Those Japanese people always do that anyway

Exactly what I thought about it. I found its a hull mark for professional design, looks awesome from every direction. Gundam etc have done that all the time. But I think this is more interesting when it comes to games. For example, the vicviper ship is the most iconic in top down view, but that doesn't happen in the game, we get to see it from side, but it turns out its still awesome that way, and you get to see the twin nose when you move the ship. I think Gradius was amount the first games that put some real effort in mechanical design which was overlooked by most fans. During that time, most game mech has only one frame to look at, or designed to looks cool only at that view. With those primitive graphics, it’s hard for player to notice the other dimension of the ship in several pixel resolutions, unless there is something different really stand out, and that was the intention behind the twin nose design. After Gradius, game developers learned what to do with better graphics. For example: Thunderforce…

Yeah. Thunder Force are exceptional. I mean, other than Thunder Force and R-Type, where else we could find star fighter with large glass as the cockpit ? Other than that, they not using "wing" as main part that could make them fly (well, most of western space fighter already like this....but not cool ).
But honestly, if there any of the interiors view (cockpit or engine etc.) i will surely fave it
Hardcore is hardcore

In video game, wings are not for fly, they are used as radar and force shield emitter. Because our universe has anti gravity and zero air resistance.

What ? For radar and shield emitter ?? Whaw !! that`s new for me to hear ! Where that reference come from ?
but using wing for other than for fly is very interesting. maybe someday there would be ship that using it`s wing for cooking

4-X-S In reply to MakotoSei [2010-02-27 20:35:53 +0000 UTC]

Because they fly without air, and the place and shape of wings are odd that can never used for fliuedynamic purposes. There is no such reference, I told myself that way. In the obscene of wings oh actually fliuedynamic we can have more goodies stick out of the frame, and they better shape like wings to be convent for maneuver and physical strength.

Solar panel has already used for cooking on space craft lolaw

holy shit.. looks awesome! the design and render both are good
whats with the software..? is it a rendering system.. or a modeling package or what?

I use Autodesk inventer, render in Autodesk showcase. You can donwload these for free as student. [link]

Fave. I love it. Design input? Leave the reflective surface of the "cone" but maybe switch shaders on the "cap" of the thrusters (the extruded portion on the end). Make it an obvious terminator instead of having the mirrored shading go all the way through. IMHO

4-X-S In reply to Chamber-52 [2010-02-10 18:47:30 +0000 UTC]

I got your point, I can minimum the reflection intensity on those parts. The only problem I have is that I need to change the materiel in the modeling, I don;t think my render software can use multiple shading functions. Less reflection takes off system load.
