I think the second panel works really well though. It refreshes the story as well as clear up any ambiguities for the reader.

Ah well. Ambiguities probe the mind of the reader into deeper thought. I kind of do the same thing in my writing 
...But we won't go into that. xD

Seems like everyone has their own way. :< Ambiguities are great if they spur the reader to make their own conclusions, but it has to be conclusions that are satisfying to the overarching theme, not detract from it.
In other words, you still have to be in complete control of your content.
