Who among us does not like the pictures of the Impressionists? Everybody loves.
One of these gems in the history of painting is the famous “Boulevard of Montmartre in Paris”
painted by Camille Pissarro from the Hermitage collection.

This landscape belongs to the series of “Parisian boulevards”, on which Pissarro worked during the highest dawn of his work.
The artist very accurately records the time of day and a certain state of the weather, so important and valuable in the eyes of the Impressionists.

His painting technique here is light, elegant and free. At the same time, he retains a clear division of house volumes and a sense of materiality of objects that do not dissolve in the twinkling of colorful spots. Pissarro succeeds in conveying the atmosphere and rhythm of urban life with great conviction.
Pissarro dedicated to the same motive a whole series of works.
To create this cycle, he rented a room at the Grand Hotel de Russy, from where the Grands Boulevards were visible.
This type of artist wrote at different times and in different weather, performing 13 from the same point !! canvases.
