Description “There are 30…No…” Patriarch Darbus rubbed his chin as he thought carefully. “At most, 20 of them ahead…” He seemed sure of it but there was still a small amount of doubt in his voice. “Good luck, little human.” Not waiting for a response, he curled up into a boulder and rolled away.

“Thank the goddesses; I thought he would never leave!” Link had to grin at Midna’s comment as she became visible on his shoulders. She had been listening in on the conversation the whole time invisible.

After the Temple of Time, Midna rarely hid in Link’s shadow and would just turn invisible whenever they came across other people. He wasn’t complaining and it was actually beneficial as she would help him in battle by distracting the enemy long enough for him to make an easy kill. She always seemed to be in a happy mood except whenever he was around the Ordon Village children, especially Ilia.

“30…20? So good to give us an accurate answer when we have to fight them.” Link could only nod as they made their way up the cleared tunnel. When he was barely able to see the side of one of the buildings, he slowly edged his way to the entrance with his body pressed against the wall.

*Be my eyes Midna.* Link signaled to her by pointing at his eyes with two fingers before pointing them at her eyes. She quickly understood and went off to explore the city invisible. While she was gone, he checked his inventory of arrows he had and was relieved to find that he had thirty.

Five minutes later, Midna returned with a smile on her face as she was able to provide useful help to Link. “Darbus was right the second time, twenty bulblins within the old town. Ilia’s friend is being held in a house on the other side of town.”

She didn’t want him to, but Link heard a darker tone used when she spoke of Ilia’s name. Suddenly a crazy thought ran through his mind. *Is Midna jealous of Ilia? No, that’s impossible.* He looked towards her to see her smile was no longer there until she noticed him staring at her. The smile came back with a slight hint of a red in her cheeks. *Is it?*

“Alright Link, the first Bulblin is going to be tricky.” Midna saw that Link was deep in thought for a while until he snapped out of it. He looked to her and gave a weak smile before nodding. *Did he notice? I shouldn’t be, but I can’t help feel jealous of Ilia. Why?* She noticed Link had his bow and arrow ready. He seemed to be waiting for her to give him more instructions. “Oh, sorry Link I was just thinking about something. Um, the first Bulblin is being lookout on top of a tower on the left side and right in front of the town buildings.”

Link took in a deep breath before coming out of hiding. He had only a few seconds to find the tower and the Bulblin on top of it before shooting him down. He immediately saw the creature, right where Midna said it would be, and quickly fired off a shot. His aim had improved dramatically since the first time he used it and nailed the Bulblin right between the eyes.

The creature started wobbling back and forth but didn’t fall off the tower. This was a serious problem to the duo. If the Bulblin didn’t fall off before he exploded, it would be seen all over the town and alert others to their presence.

Link didn’t wait for the outcome and made a mad dash to a group of stacked crates right in front of the village entrance. Along the way he looked up to see the top of the tower explode. *Crap!* He barely reached the boxes for cover when a horn siren was heard. Sighing heavily, he reloaded his bow and turned towards Midna. *I need you to be my eyes again Midna.*

She seemed to be deep in thought and he had to lay his hand on her shoulder to get her attention again. “Oh, right, I’ll scout ahead.” She quickly turned invisible and floated away. He noticed her mood had changed dramatically and he wondered what was wrong. A few minutes later, she returned to relay the news of the positions the Bulblins took on the left side of the buildings.

“Clear out the left side Link while I scout out the right side. When you’re done, come back here and wait for me.” Link was thoroughly confused by this plan and her actions. Midna saw his look and started floating away. “I need some time to think, alone.” Without waiting for any response from him, she floated towards the right side of town.

*Was it something I did?* Not having his mind totally on the dangerous situation at hand, he ran from his cover and headed towards the left side of town.
