Description Once again, based on the original meme by images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca8877… , this will probably be the last time I do this meme for a while; because I only want to use this meme to illustrate the difference between really GOOD ideas, and really BAD ideas! And I won't DO this meme based on anything religious, political, or otherwise intentionally controversial, so don't ask! This version of the meme is interesting, in that the Bad Idea actually happened first, proving that a Bad Idea doesn't have to be a COMPLETE waste of time, if you happen to learn from it! In 1993, Nintendo made the misguided at best decision to have Legendary Pictures (a working division of the Walt Disney Company), make a live-action movie version for the "Super Mario Bros.". Now, I have NO idea just who THOUGHT that it would be at ALL realistic as to just HOW Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo would be related as Mario and Luigi, let alone that their last name should be Mario; but as it stands, this movie has the distinction of somehow GREATLY restricting Bob Hoskins' ability to get good acting roles, somehow REVIVED Dennis Hopper's acting career (he went on to play the main villain in "Speed" in 1994 which solidified his comeback), and SOMEHOW didn't affect John Leguizamo's acting career at all, as he went on to mainly voice Sid the Sloth in the "Ice Age" franchise! But acting choices aside, the writing of "Super Mario Bros." was...questionable at BEST! And the only REASON this movie even GETS a pass is that it WAS, the FIRST attempt at making a movie based on a video game! But even so, Nintendo basically DISOWNS this movie these days. Which is just fine, because having learned from the misfire of "Super Mario Bros.", they went to Illumination Animation to make a very beautiful, well-animated, well-acted, and critically acclaimed movie with "The Super Mario Bros. Movie", which made the historic distinction of being the FIRST animated movie to GROSS over a $1 billion in its original theatrical run WITHOUT needing to adjust for inflation! If that's not learning from a past mistake, I don't know what is! "Super Mario Bros." (1993) technically copyrighted by Legendary Pictures and Nintendo; "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (2023) copyrighted by Illumination Pictures/Universal Pictures and Nintendo, "Animaniacs" and the "Good Idea / Bad Idea" segments copyrighted by Warner Bros. and Steven Spielberg, all rights reserved.
