I guess some people really like characters who are terrible people
I mean just because a character is a terrible person, doesn't necessarily mean they're not a good character imo haha
I don't particularly like Gamzee all that much, but there are certainly characters whom I like that are assholes //shot

Oh no I can agree that some of the best characters are terrible people, or in fact are great because of how terrible they are (great villains like the Joker from Batman for example). Even characters who are just plain assholes that would not be easy to make friends with in real life like Karkat are still great characters.

Gamzee though... He doesn't have any redeeming qualities. I mean when he was sober he was just sort of goofy and harmlessly weird (maybe sober Gamzee is actually what people love), but throughout the majority of the rest of HS he's just.... so unbearable. I was viciously happy when I saw what Kanaya finally did to him in Game Over (you know, for a tiny bit, in between all my sobbing).
I don't hate him exactly - I don't hate any character in Homestuck, I find all of them endearing in some way, even Caliborn XD - but he's definitely my least liked character and it surprises me sometimes how he - along with Eridan - can be so popular in the fandom.

Yeah I feel like that holds true to a lot of characters

And I dunno. Tbh I feel like Gamzee was just a joke taken too far in a sense. I mean he's basically a parody of juggalo culture gone rampant. And I suppose some people enjoy that. He's been turned into a meme so many times that he can't really be taken seriously anymore imo. Not that he could really have been taken very seriously in the first place. But I mean he's been referred to as "the most important character in Homestuck" and got shot dozens of times by a machine gun and not dying. Ah well haha I'm just rambling at this point
