Actually it is. Square-Enix published their manga in Japan, and like most of the franchises listed here, had their manga published by Yen Press.
Wikipedia can also back that up. On the Suare-Enix page, around the "Other Media" section, Higurashi is listed along with other popular Square-Enix mangas.
