“Hey there, doll face,” Al said, leaning his chin on your shoulder as he snaked his arms around your waist, “fancy meeting you here.”

Sighing you answered, “I live here, Al.” You might have jumped at this contact a few months ago, and a few years ago you might have been surprised that he was here. But now this was a regular occurrence.

“Ah, what do I have to do to get a reaction out of you?” Al said, attempting to tickle your sides.

However, you bit back your giggles, and turned to him sternly, “I’m used to everything you do now, Al. It’s just normal for you to be weird.”

“Oh, but I love it when I catch you off guard and your cheeks turn pink. It’s adorable.” he teased, smiling back at you, still quite close to your face. Speaking of that, you could feel your face heat up. Al moved his lips closer to your own, but you turned your head abruptly back to the laptop’s screen on the bedspread. He sighed, his hot breath tickling your neck, and asked you, while pulling you back into his lap on your bed, “What’cha doin’, doll?”

You started to explain, “Well, I’m trying to write a research paper for my English class, when you came in. And it’s due really soon,” your voice started to speed up as he held you closer, “so I’ve got to finish it and maybe you could leave because you’re really distracting!” All the words ended in a rush, and it only made Al smirk.

“Oh?” he said playfully, his husky voice taking your breath away, “And how am I being distracting?” With that he took a playful nip at a sensitive spot on your neck, making you yelp.

The heat climbed back up to your cheeks, and he turned your head back to him, tipping your chin up to look at him with those deep (e/c) eyes.

So you just stared at him for a moment, and then a large grin spread across his face. He picked you up with ease and set you out of his lap and next to him on the bed. “That’s all I wanted, doll.”

You kicked the ground, still blushing. “I wish you wouldn’t do that.”

“Huh?” Al said, surprised. You had never protested before. Despite all his actions, he respected you and never would have done anything he thought made you too uncomfortable.

Still not meeting his gaze, you said quietly, “Act like you care so much.”

“What are you saying?” Al asked incredulously.

You said, “You go to such effort to get a rise out of me, and I know it means a lot more to me than it does to you. You probably do this with lots of girls.”

“That’s not true, doll. And I thought you knew it.” Al said, looking down at your dejected form. “You’re special to me.”

Laughing harshly, with no humor, you said incredulously, “Sure.”

“Dammit!” he said rather loudly, making you jump, moving back from him. You stared at him with wide, slightly fearful (e/c) eyes. “You’re so oblivious, _____!”

“W-What?” you stammered, staring back at those piercing red eyes, that felt like they were ripping your soul to shreds with one glare.

He sighed, looking down at you hopelessly. “You don’t get it at all?”

You shook your head rather wildly, “What the hell has gotten into you, Al? You’re never this serious about anything.”

Al looked at you, more raw passion in his eyes than you had ever seen, nearly scaring you out of your wits. But you stayed there, finally knowing how the deer feel basking in the bright light of headlights. You know there’s imminent danger, but it’s so beautiful, so utterly intoxicating...

A moment might have passed. However, it could have been years you wasted away in the deep orbs of red that promised everything and nothing at the same time. But before you could formulate another coherent thought, Al’s lips were upon yours, and all that raw passion made its way into the kiss. It said everything he couldn’t, and you were lost.

When he finally let you breathe, he wrapped his arms around your waist, and brought you closer to him, allowing you to rest your head on his chest and think. Between deep breaths he said, “_____, I love you. Don’t ever doubt that. There is no one else, only you.”

Tears pricked in your eyes and your worries melted away as you heard the sincerity in his voice. At least you could trust someone. “I love you too.” you whispered softly, so softly you thought he might not have heard, but you were sure when he squeezed you tighter, emanating contagious joy and warmth.
