Description It's a joke going around Tumblr for awhile now that Hermione is an owl...I don't get it either.

I know the feeling, Hermione!  I e-mail friends, with everyone visible in the mailing list, instruct everyone to hit "reply-all" in responses, and I still have to deal with, "Would you ask your husband..." "Do you know if Susan..." "Is Fabio going to bring..."

Well in GOF while Harry and Ron are fighting Hermione is basically in the middle sending
messages back and forth to Harry or Ron because they are not talking to one an other, Hermione
gets mad a shouts "I am not an owl!"

because owls send messages back and forth LOL

Yeah I remember that scene. I thought it was a little selfish that she would send messages for Ron but not for Harry lol.

In the fourth movie (I don't remember about the book) when Ron and Harry are fighting, they send messages to each other through Hermione because they're too angry to talk to each other in person. Hermione gets so frustrated with this that she ends ends yelling at Harry "I'm not an owl!", which is probably where this joke on tumble comes in. And Hermione is a real name, it means 'pillar queen', whatever that means, but probably is derived from Hermes.

So cute!! Love her angry eyes

Well, I think it makes perfectly sense = Owls are said to be really clever and always having a sharp eye on everything - they are also the direct symbol of Wisdom in the Ancient Greece.
I believe Hermione is one of J.K. Rowlings own created names, but it's probably based on Hermes, which is the messenger for the gods in Greek mythology.

hmm... *continues thinking*

Hermione isn't a created name, it's an old and underused name but I'm pretty sure my great aunt Hermione was in existence before the potter books considering she's pushing 80 lol.
