Yesterday I came in the shop and found orphan oil outside the store
What that means is someone has left used motor oil outside our trash and ran off
We allow customers to recycle oil but they’re only allowed to do 5 quarts and it has to be untainted used oil
Some of the oil jugs were in these purple containers
At the end of the day I had to recycle like 7 barrels of oil
But I couldn’t recycle two bottles as the oil was very tainted and looked like iced coffee it was so bad
I was very angry about this of course
Today someone came in and asked if he could recycle some oil, that he had only 4 quarts of oil
I said that was fine and volunteered to empty it for him
He had a big tub with 4 5-gallon jugs.
One of them was identical to the purple jug with the tainted oil from yesterday that was abandoned outside my store
So I told him while I was collecting the oil that some asshole left a lot of oil outside my store yesterday and it was filthy and tainted and not suitable for recycling
He said “ ! Really?! The nerve of some people!”
I knew it was him and I giggled to myself as I went in the store to recycle the oil
While I was recycling it I noticed that in the jugs there was mostly clear liquid and it didn’t smell at all like oil

I suspect it was antifreeze or something?
I kept recycling the oil because at this point I was halfway done anyway
I remarked to my coworker as I emptied the oil that the oil was tainted and he looked at it and said there’s no way that’s oil
I said aloud why would someone just lie to me about what’s in the jug? It’s silly and childish
Suddenly the man appeared behind us and screamed “it’s oil!!!! :upsetti2: “
We didn’t even acknowledge he was there and continued talking about how sus the “oil” was and how there’s no such thing as clear oil
When I finished emptying the jugs I gave it back to the man and he said “water got in the oil”
I nodded and said “water. 🙂 “
