"Haliburton forest along with its wolf center has been around for many years. The center has been at the heart of wolf education and offers visitors a very up close but no contact way to view an untamed pack of wolves (through one-sided glass). The center also offers the rare opportunity to see very young pups (as shown here), feeding behaviours and howling. It has a museum, theatre and gift shop full of the history of the Wolf Center, and wolves in general.

This was one of my favorite excursians ever done and well worth the 3-4 hour drive to and from."

Hey Rachel, not sure if you remember me as it's been many years, but I recently visited the wolf centre. I actually went this Sunday that just passed. Onyx is starting to show his greys, and Luna is about half way to looking like Mannitou.

The history at the centre is almost eerie after everything the pack has gone through. Crazy to think that Luna is the last remaining wolf from the pack after the release.

Anyways, if you ever want to meet or connect, please feel free to email me at morgan.stone@hotmail.com

Do my eyes fool me or does it really look like the wolf has a green sliver in one eye? ^^

Absolutely gorgeous. I do have one question though. I'd really like to go to the Haliburton Wolf Center, but I want to know; if you go on the trail, are you guaranteed to see a wolf, and how close do you get to them? Is there a fence? Board walk? Are they wild?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really excited about this place, especially because it's not very expensive.

These wolves are bordeline wild. There is no human interaction unless the animals are ill or if they are being transferred. The wolf center is a museum for wolves, and its back wall attaches onto the enclosure. There is a viewing area with large glass windows and the wolves spend 90% of their time near the glass. It is one sided, so they can't see the viewers, but they can hear and smell them.

It is not guaranteed, but it is highly likely to see the wolves We were at the wolf center from open to close, and only the old male that passed at the end of the summer last year would wander away.
