Commission for *SaidyWolf Thank you so much for your patience! I really enjoyed working on this piece and I hope you like it!

This was a lot of fun to work on and my first dedicated attempt at mixed media. The wolf, Saidy, is done in a mix of Prisma, Derwent and Faber Castell Polychromos pencils (first time using the Fabers and I love them!). The background is all ink, except for Saidy's shadow and the peaks of the mountains. I wanted some pencil texture in the background. The original has a thin white border.

My sister was the one to suggest a winter scene after I finished Saidy.

Colored Pencils, Acrylic Ink on Hot Press Watercolor Paper. Time: Roughly 10-12 hours + drying time.

I love this art work. The dog is well detailed in its fur and shading. I like the feather, necklace, and bracelet it just gives the character more depth. The scar does the adds more character also. I think that the tail looks a little too short and in a awkward position. In the future you need to work on the background a little longer. It doesn't have much detail as I like it too. This is just my opinion though. Good job on using different art tools and combine them so beautifully. You should have incorporated some colored pencil in the background to tie it all together.

The character's tail is unnaturally short and trying to draw it out so it still looked properly placed was a challenge and I'm not happy with it. Maybe some fluff might help or altering the fur direction in places. I'll have to check some refs


I agree the background could use a lot more detail and more coloured pencil could be incorporated. I only put in the bare minimum for the colored pencil in the background, in the shadow and on the mountain peaks. The ink was near identical in color to the pencil XD Even in real life its subtle.


I will definitely be trying more mixed media pictures in the future and I'll keep your tips in mindΒ  I know that the next one I have to do for a prize will have an abstract background but once my to do list is done I'll give it another shot^^

I'm so very happy you like it!! I have added the black patch on the original and it will be updated once I have power back. We had an ice storm go through and it downed our power lines. But it is ready so as soon as power is back it will be rescanned.Β

Lovely colouring job. I really like the little details, like the wolf's shadow and the bit of snow coming up where the paw touches the ground. Gorgeous deep browns for the fur too, really like it, it's such a warm colour.

Thanks! I am just fixing a little imperfection on Saidy I forgot her back patch but luckily its a very easy fix. I'll have that update by tomorrow hopefully^^
