It's good to experiment, and not saying you did bad, but for a simple art style, it's usually better to go for simple shading. for example, this is similar to a chibi therefore in my personal opinion you should use cell shading. Also, I believe that you should try to work on lineart and clothing folds. The line art crosses over its self and the ruffles in the skirt aren't quite right. In addition the bows on the skirt would have move into different angles, but besides that, it is an amazing piece the composition and color theory are great.
