I finally had some time off and I really wanted to draw my old otp again. It's been 12 years since I became a fan of FMA and this pairing... orz
So here is a simple drawing I did for the “Touching” prompt for @royaiweek
At this point, I think I will forever suck at anatomy, so I used a pose reference I’d found on twitter some time ago. I don't have the link but I can search for it if you'd like to have it too. This pic is probably OOC and I also forgot how to draw them, sorry. orz

I like seeing them look carefree and happy like this. The way you colored the skin looks particularly nice in this pic.

They deserve a bit of happiness after all they went through. Thank you! I love colouring skin, I even thought of drawing some dumb fanservice-y beach fanart because then I could colour a lot of skin.

I missed drawing them. ;A; Thank you so much! I'm just glad they aren't called "Roza" lmao~

Glad you like them.

I can tale that you have missed them and never really thought of Roza for them as FlamesHawk just sounds more badass and fits them more

Yea I enjoy anything to do them these two but my real favourite thing is them be parents to Ed and Al especially Roy and like them be parents to any kid including my favourite crossover fandom which is Harry Potter and Fullmetal Alchemist

In which some stories Roy adopts and cares for Harry. As I see some similar things between the two that I think that Roy would understanding Harry and been a adult to him

It does sound cool but I'm too used to calling them Royai, haha.

Could be cute. Though I must admit I'm one of those people who live under a rock and I really don't know much about Harry Potter.

By the way, thank you so much for all the s!

Awww they look so precious.
I really wish FMA could have continued. I wanted more. x3
Anyways I loved that pair too. I always found them so different from your typical couple.
Love the art. <3

Glad you think so.
Imho FMA ended at the right time and at the right way. My only disappointment is that I wanted to see the side characters a bit more but you can't have everything, haha~
I don't care whether their relationship is platonic or romantic, they are just so perfect for each other. They are my favourite anime/manga couple even now, so many years later.
Thank you.

Well, I do agree that the end of FMA was great.
What I meant is that I wanted more to have happened.
Like I would have loved a side manga explaining the adventures they had after (especially Al, since he got his body back).
I know they were meant to go explore another places after so it would have been interesting to see.

You seemed to like the FMA author a lot so have you ever had a look at her other manga/anime works?
The Heroic Legend of Arslan seems to be pretty good (not sure if it's as good as FMA as I have only seen one anime season of it), but I remember enjoying it a lot so maybe I might give the manga a go.

Well I think the romance was pretty real in my opinion. xD I think they were both crazy for each other and took care of each other too.
I am not sure if they are my favourite couple but they are definitely right there at the top of my list. \o/

And you're welcome. <3

Ps: I think you should draw them more often... just saying ; D

Well, I guess this is what fanfics are for hahah~

Many years ago I read everything I could find by her. But she only had one-shots and short mangas besides FMA back then.
She is only the artist of The Heroic Legend of Arslan. Arslan is originally a pretty old novel series. Arakawa's other "big original series" is Silver Spoon, which is a slice of life comedy manga about a city boy who goes to study in an agricultural high school. It's good too.

I just like that their bond is so strong and their relationship is just so perfect no matter how you interpret it.

More often? I used to draw them A LOT, haha!

timelessrain In reply to Amarevia [2018-06-25 10:54:35 +0000 UTC]

Haha ye x3

Ye, I will be honest... I never really went after all her other works. I read FMA and then I guess I started jumping around to other artists that were popular during that time.
Ahhh I see, I thought she actually wrote it too. Well I am still enjoying the story tbh, it does certainly make me have a similar feeling that I did when I watched/read FMA.
Well I'll look for "Silver Spoon" then. I really could do with a slice of life comedy right now. ^^

Yep, you are right. It's like they understand each other perfectly without saying a single word.

Yess... even if you drew them a lot in the past, your art style is constantly evolving. It's always good to draw new interpretations of our favorite characters! <3
So yes, draw them more often. ;D <3

There's another one she only illustrated, it's called "Hero Tales" but it's pretty mediocre and short. The anime adaptation is actually longer than the manga, I think. I watched the first season of Arslan too but I didn't feel like continuing, I didn't like it all that much.

They give me such strong feels... lol.

I fear my art style is just getting worse. X'D
And I'm no longer as "passionate" about them as before. I keep doodling Magi/SnB characters...

Hey, sorry for taking long. I am currently travelling abroad and I don’t have much access to the internet at the moment. >.<

Yeah, I don’t really know her other works at all >.<
I liked Arslan. I didn’t think the first season was great but I think it surely had potential. Having that said, I still haven’t watched the second season (and I think it has been out for a while?).

Nooo your art is just fine.
And in all fairness I always prefered MAGI’s art over FML’s one. x3
And there’s nothing greater than drawing baes!! <3

I really should be back to drawing too. It has now been 2-3 months since I haven’t posted anything. Everything keeps getting on the way. >.<

No worries, I come home from work half-dead these days and have little to no energy left to answer messages so it's alright... orz

Honestly, I don't remember much of it. I watched season 1 when it was airing but I never checked out season 2.

I'm always full of doubt.
Magi has really cute art, if it weren't for all the battle/fight scenes, it would be almost shoujo-esque.

Yeah, you should. I finally managed to get over my gaming phase and try to draw a little every weekend.

Hey, sorry for the massive delay. I went to Portugal in these last 2 weeks and so I haven't been able to hang around DA too much.
Urgh I am sorry about your energy. I hope you can rest well soon. :C

Ye... I watched season 1 too but to be honest I only vaguely remember it lol.
Still I am willing to give season 2 another chance... soon. >.<

And ye I do agree about MAGI's art. I remember I used to like the eyes a lot and the small details all around the background, clothing etc.

Haha well... too many things happening in life right now to even think about drawing or gaming. Life can be messed up sometimes >.<
But ye, I should definitely draw and write more.

Amarevia In reply to timelessrain [2018-07-17 20:17:44 +0000 UTC]

No worries. How was your trip to Portugal?

Same, haha...

To be honest, I liked the art in Magi better in the beginning of the series. It turned simpler and more "moe" later on and Ohtaka tends to recycle panels.

I know what you mean. I really wish I had more time to focus on art.

timelessrain In reply to Amarevia [2018-07-18 11:47:22 +0000 UTC]

Heya.
Hmm didn't go so well. A lot of stuff happened and I couldn't do everything I needed to do (it was not a holiday but more like a family/business trip).

Yep, I agree with you. I really think that at the beginning the detail and props were very good.
Well I can understand authors having to recycle panels. I still not too sure how they manage to draw about 30 pages of manga per week.
I know that some of them have helpers and all but still it must be pretty hard, especially if you are doing that kind of detailed manga.

Ye... Things keep happening and I just can never find the time.
In all honesty it has been a pretty shit year, bot personal and artistic wise. =_=

Amarevia In reply to timelessrain [2018-08-05 19:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Ow sorry to hear that.

I think I actually prefer monthly manga because weekly series can get rushed/sloppy both art and story-wise. They have assistants but I agree, one chapter per week is crazy. Especially for a slowpoke like me.

Same tbh.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

timelessrain In reply to Amarevia [2018-08-07 08:24:14 +0000 UTC]

Ye monthly mangas tend to have somewhat prettier art (more detail too) and don't feel as rushed.
Having said that, they normally also tend to be longer than the standard 20 odd pages that weekly ones have.
So at this point I am not even too sure which one would be the hardest to do.

And ye, there's no way I would be able to keep that kind of pace. It's insane.

And awwww, I am sorry to hear that too. ; (
