Cute Things with Guns go Pew Pew Pew!So. Mooore characters from my book. Captain Hailshaker and his navigator, Firetwister, who also happens to be a crack shot with a pistol.
I think Firetwister might be the coolest character in my book. Sparktender is my favorite... but Firetwister is the coolest. xD

Is Captain Hailshaker a bit older? I like his fuzzy eyebrows 
One thought is... since the background is quite glowy-firey-furnacey, maybe you could use a few yellowy-warm colours as the highlight colours. I think it's the next step between drawing the characters and integrating them in a scene (it's something I've just started thinking about after reading some critiques and tutorials and things)

He is a bit older, yes! And kind of a "tough guy". I'm still working out his character design but I like the start I've got for him.
Hmm, I've never really thought much about lighting integration with the background before. But that's a really good idea. Normally I draw my characters, scan them in, ink/paint them, and THEN look for the background but you're right, I should probably work more on color integration
