Description Another one requested by of her dragon Oreon; I did this one by hand and used a pose from one of Neondragon's books. Original image can be found here [link]

I couldn't quite get the colours to match but I think I did a reasonable enough job on it.

Character doesn't belong to me.

All tips, crits and relevant points of view are welcome.

This is such terrific dragon. I love the colors of him but also the angles you did and the downward pose.

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply, been busy. However; I'm very glad you approve of it; I'm very pleased with the pose on this one.

Whoa! This is a very nice piece of art. Neondragon's art sure rocks and so does yours! I like those colours and how you've added some patterns on the dragon's skin.

Have you started the copic tutorial btw? I'm itching to see it!

Thank you; I'm glad you like what I did with it. Heh patterns on the skin was something a little newer to try I haven't done something like that before so I wasn't too sure how it would turn out at first.

I've got a sketch inked and ready, but I'm waiting till I go back to uni before I start it sadly i've already packed my scanner/printer to go back so I can't actually start it yet. However; it has been planned and I've got everything ready so hopefully you'll see it in about a months time.

You're welcome. So, how did yo do them?

*thumbs up* That's glad to hear. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Np Well I put the green marks in first then coloured around them with the lighter blue before going over the whole thing before it had a chance to dry properly with a blender. I did have to do a little digital touch up on some of the markings because they'd disappeared too much but most of them are original.

Yup so hopefully it'll be up during October give or take.

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-09-20 16:38:03 +0000 UTC]

Owww.. Sounds horribly hard to make those patterns though I don't think it's that hard when you've actually learned it.

Yay! Gotta buy some paper meant just for copics soonish then. It's just so damn hard to kick myself on the butt and go to Helsinki to buy that paper. XD Maybe that's because I can't navigate in a big city very well (and it's probably small compared to London). But when I'm on countryside I can always find my way whereever I want to go.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-09-20 21:15:13 +0000 UTC]

Nah it's not that hard actually; you just have to be quick and do only one part at a time.

Eh I just use normal artist paper; means I need a bleed-through sheet though. Hehe I usually just get some whenever I'm near a shop that sells it. I have no idea the size difference since I don't actually live in London. I live in a town south from London.

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-09-21 05:40:01 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I'm never quick. I have a slow style of doing things.

Well, normal artist paper may be still better than copying paper, which I use. And that's why I never use copics on it, they always get so damn dry after using.

Yea, but I have heard Finnish cities which we think they're so big, are actually so small compared to foreign cities. So I can only imagine how much possible is getting lost in London. XD

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-09-21 18:03:44 +0000 UTC]

Which is alright really since you could just dampen the paper a little with a wet brush (not too damp though) in order to make the colours stay wet for longer; makes blending easier.

Probably; I know that using printer paper is a bad idea (though it can work alright I've done a few pictures on printer paper) since it bleeds to easily.

Eh well Britains kinda small so who knows? The problem with London is finding out where it ends there's so many small towns near it the boundaries sometimes become blurred.

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-09-22 05:41:34 +0000 UTC]

Mmm.. Should try that too.

Yea. Luckily it can be used for drawing lines, and then you should scan that and print it on a good quality paper as you can colour it, without messing up the original work if something happens to go wrong.

Aha. I'm not very good in geography so who knows? I just imagined Finnish cities were small, because I've been told that.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-09-26 18:28:38 +0000 UTC]

It's a fun little technique to play with.

Yeah well I normally colour that kind of art digitally instead. Though I do sometimes still use my markers. I still prefer my sketchbooks for drawing and using markers to colour in. I do scan it in quite often before I colour it completely.

Eh I'm no better me and geography don't mix at all!

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-09-27 05:54:07 +0000 UTC]

I believe so.

I do make some copies of my line arts before colouring just incase something goes wrong. And it very often goes since I'm not too familiar with copics. I'm still looking forward to see your tutorial, though I still don't have any good paper.

Hahah. XD Ya, I wish I had studied way more in the elementary school but I had my own problems back then so I didn't. Now I feel quite stupid because everyone seems to know more than I do.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-09-28 17:09:08 +0000 UTC]

Well you have to try it a little to see how it works and what not.

Eh don't worry about the paper too much when I do my tutorial I'll keep things simple, so a couple of sheets of printer paper should be ...adequate for you. Heh don't worry about it even if things go not exactly as planned there are ways to make it seem like they're not wrong.

Oh I studied hard enough during secondary I was just more of a history buff than a geography one. Besides I specialised during my years in college and now my years in uni so it's been at least 3 yrs since i've done anything other than engineering.

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-09-28 19:26:59 +0000 UTC]

I worry about everything. XD Hehe, but yea, I shouldn't do that. Printer paper just sucks in my opinion.

Heh, I studied electirical engineering for one year too, but my head couldn't take my classmates which were.. well, perverted boys. And boys are like big babies.
But I have good memories from that time too like that when those boys were playing baseball in the classroom with a wet paper bundle... and they almost hit the teacher on his face with the wet paper bundle (by an accident of course)! Just imagine how angry our old teacher was. But he was nice on the other hand, he always let us out of the class when it was sunny outside.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-10-04 18:14:23 +0000 UTC]

Not a good thing that. Eh I know it does but it's cheap and great for practising!

Meh so are all mine; I have no problem with it. They know I can kick the ever living daylights out of them if they go too far anyhow. That and I have weaponry

LOL that would have been rather kodak moment too bad you don't have any pictures of it!

Heh England...sunny...I never get let out of class!

Btw; I have started on the tutorial, but it's awkward to scan when I need it still wet so I may resort to photo's this a problem?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-10-05 06:58:36 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I'm too shy to do anything about boys, even if they're not handsome.

Ya. I told my friend to take some photos of the situation but her phone was broken. :< And I didn't have camera in mine back then.

Awww.. D: Too bad. It's sunny in Finland at the moment, again. But cold, brrrhhh..

Sure, photos will do.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-10-08 18:33:24 +0000 UTC]

Why? They're nothing special and I honestly couldn't care less what someone looks like. If they're a jackass I'll treat them like one.

Aww that's annoying; oh well. I'll just have to picture them

Eh it's always wet and cold over here. Though there are the odd occasions when it's not; even if they are few and far between.

Great. I'll keep working on it then.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-10-10 05:48:41 +0000 UTC]

I'm just too shy. It can't be helped, seriously. I care just a little bit, but nature is more important.

Awww.. That's just so damn wrong! Wet and cold sucks, especially in winter and summer, since in winter I want it to be snowy and in summer I want it to be sunny. We had two wet winters in Finlad some years ago.. it was just so wrong that there wasn't snow in Christmas! D:

I can sense it'll be good. Can't wait to see it.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-12-08 23:55:48 +0000 UTC]

Shy? Don't put yourself down. Heck everyone's a little shy at times...usually when I'm in an area with no-one I know.

Damnit no snow here; I don't get days off and wandering around campus in the snow is flipping leathal! Damn bikes...*curses*

It has never snowed on Christmas day for as long as I can remember. We sometimes get snow in April though.

I hope it'll be worth it!

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-12-09 08:38:36 +0000 UTC]

Haha, true. But some people are more shy than others.

Owwww... That's a shame, there MUST be snow on Christmas. And if there's snow in April, there must be something wrong with the weather. *laughs*

It will, I'm sure about it.

DarkStatic In reply to GeneralDarkkis [2011-12-29 12:15:50 +0000 UTC]

Indeed suppose you are right there.

Nah; it rained but no snow. It's England that's all the explanation you need.

Yeah well if I can get my coursework done I'll be adding the write up to go with it soon.

GeneralDarkkis In reply to DarkStatic [2011-12-31 15:21:59 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yea, this was the most rainy Christmas ever! And there was snow here either. Just slush that made it extremely hard to drive to the cottage my family has in East Finland. Think of it; slush on your car's windscreen when driving on a highway. x_X Extremely exciting and dangerous.

Cool. :3 I've said this too many times, but I can't help saying it again: I'm itching to see it. I'm sure it'll be awesome and helpful. Thank you again for making the tutorial.

I'm glad you think so.

I thought a more acrobatic pose would suit this one better and it appears I was right.

Again thanks; I'm happy that you're happy with it!
