Description As part of a pitch for an idea I'm calling "Marine Mania", me and some of the Animaniacs cast appear in a lineup of five major races of merfolk (not representative of the final version):

Skippy Squirrel is a sirenian, of which the last surviving families are dugongs and manatees. These are mostly herbivorous (dugongs being STRICTLY herbivorous), though will eat meat if starved, and are marked by tiny, stumpy, vestigial feet, stocky forelimbs with wide fins, and a long, round tailfin (or cetacean tailfin in the case of a dugong.) They move clumsily on dry land. Examples of sirenian characters include Evezös, Aero, Spindel, Rhiss, and Bacchus.

I am a pinniped, also given the common term of "seal", and being one of two races which can walk upright on dry land. Seals and other pinnipeds are mainly carnivorous, and have four small, stocky limbs with fins for hands and feet. Pinnipedian examples include Finlay, Lõpp, Merelaine, Foeke, Nereid, Strobe, and Tengeri.

Yakko is a cetacean, which you may oftentimes class as a "whale", but that's not strictly true, especially for dolphins and orcas. These too, are carnivores, and cannot walk or run upright on dry land (though some can stand upright with a specialised tailfin.) Examples of cetaceans include Unca, Sedna, Eudora, Titania, Thalassios, and Cephalus.

Wakko is an enhydran, also known as a sea otter. These carnivores have fullsize limbs and meaty tails, are the best-suited merfurs to terrestrial life, and run the fastest on dry land. Examples of enhydrans include Callisto, Ægir, Cardia, Hermes, Ares, and Demeter.

Dot is a piscine, the classic form of merfolk. These basically have the lower bodies, often including the fins, of fishes, most of which are carnivorous but a few being herbivorous, and as you could imagine, have it EXTREMELY hard on land. As such, piscines will not appear.

Of course, language-lovers will notice I just named many of the merfurs I mentioned with words meaning or inspired by "fin", "marine", or their respective races. The main exceptions are sea gods and Shakespearean fairies.

That is awesome! I have tried to draw the Animaniacs so many times - every time they come out looking like freaks.

Thank my OCD when it comes to anatomy; speaking of which, I still have that drawing to finish where I satirise anatomical error. The same way William Hogarth satirised bad perspective.
