Description
One of the most humbling experiences can be either the receiver or giver of the washing of feet. Most can say that they are self-conciouss about their feet and to have someone (anyone) execute this act of service can make one feel vulnerable.
Christ was/is followed and looked to for His teaching and power - a leader, a master, the King. For Him, in great & mighty authority, to be giving those that considered themselves far below Him to perform a servant's duty such as this was unheard of.
But, in doing so, Jesus demonstrated a major principle that should be followed and remembered by all who adhere to and belive on Him: "The first shall be last, and the last shall be first" "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
Let there be a reminder that the basic fundamentals of Christianity are love, genrosity, patience, faithfullness, self-control (discipline), joy, peace, humility, compassion....
Too often, those that claim to be Christian say and do things that do not resound those truths. Be mindful that they are human and by default will make the mistakes. But, do not fault Christianity itself for the faulty representation by many.
To come to Christ is a choice made by no other than the individual. Any coersion or condemnation or fearmongering is outright against how God would will any to come to Him.
