Haha, looks like Celestia made a mistake: she didn't trap Luna on the moon, she just prevented her younger sister from returning to their planet!

Doomed them all! Celestia was just trying to protect and secure her own place ruling over the ponies of Equestria, but she was too near sighted and didn't see the much bigger picture that involved all those stars that Luna takes such care with. Celestia was blinded by the brilliance of both herself and the growing advancement of her little ponies, while Luna had a clear view that there wasn't just Equestria in the universe, her near-outcast status giving her that needed solitude to be able to see the many more possibilities: when the Sun is up, you see it, the blue sky and maybe the moon sometimes, but when its night and just the moon, you can see all those stars in such clarity.

well if i might do a story with ponies and starships... it's no might be "Luna has been banished and for revenge she conquered a race to do her dirty job for her" its might be "an era where ponies has starships and had explored countless stars, luna decided to be a ruler (and goddess) alone and not with celestia, she took with her faithful servants and worshipers and went in exile to the stars... their dicovered a planet that was inhabited by an ancient but extinguished race of psychic cetaceans, however its technology was quite active and ready for anyone to use... now she and her ponies wants to conquer all" ... something like that

Luna better be careful here. What probably happened was that the Suul'ka known as the Siren abducted some Liir Elders, tweaked their minds, and used them to seed the Liirian Empire with pleasure cults dedicated to the exploration of the most extreme sensations, physical, emotional, and psychic and once the orgies reached a critical level, performed an epic act of psi drain, wiping out the majority of the Liir race and making Him/Herself far more powerful than all of the other Suul'ka except for the Bloodweaver. Some Liir would survive as manyΒ  within their society would grow sick of the decadence and flee aboard leviathan-sized ships that practically become their new homes while others would move to far-flung planets and give up their technology and live pre-industrial lifestyles. Meanwhile, there would be other Liir who move to cities built in nodespace itself where they continue to live their decadent, sadistic lifestyles and together with their Zuul servants raid realspace for slaves. None of these Liir survivor factions would be too happy about another race getting their hands on their technology and would take rather extreme measures to prevent that from happening. In addition, Luna may end up playing into the Siren's hands and end up being chosen as the vehicle to seed Equestria with pleasure cults similar to those which led to the Fall of the Liir. Additionally, there are rumors that many of the abandoned Liir cities and ships are haunted by malevolent energy beings resembling extremely beautiful dolphins who inflict extraordinarily painful and pleasurable deaths on their victims-- and the souls of pony goddesses are at least as delectable to them as that of the most decadent psychic space dolphin.

It's been a good while that I played SotS and I confess that I'm very unfamiliar now with the Liir.

In that time I didn't understand much of the Lenguage and just knew the basics, same thing with SotS and it's lore, only knowing the basics.

Beside, I didn't fully thought about it back when I made the Icons and Banners for the game.

It was a good game thought but was buggy af and it was perhaps what killed the franchise for good, shame really.

Actually what I just wrote was a SOTS/Warhammer 40,000 crossover fanfic in which the Liir stood in for the Eldar and the Suul'ka the Siren for Slaanesh. It turns out that the Suul'ka are ancient Liir Elders who gone mad, enslaved the rest of their race to build them spacesuits so they won't get crushed by their own weight, and unsurprisingly lost some or all of their morals.

Oh I see, Personally I don't like crossovers with 40k, most don't actually fit the setting. On that, I was genuinally confused by your comment. I mean, I made the Banners and Icons for fun, no really put any thought for any story behind it, only made the main six being leaders of races that I thought it fit them better.

Yes, I'm quite aware of the Suul'ka being renegade Elder Liirs who created Orks mixed with Dark Eldar Tendencies.

I still like the idea of there being a half-flooded city in nodespace or collections of stargate-linked asteroid habitats inhabited by Liir with similar personalities to Pinkamena of creepypasta fame.Β

Not really? the Liir would literally die over turning into a 'Sul'Kaa' or any form of monsters.

Remember, they are incredibly empathic race, the Sul'Kaa must be their first case of Psychopaths.

Probably some of the Dark Liir/Suul'ka who the Black (aka Space Whale Maugan Ra) killed may have started out as fanboys/girls of Siren and Bloodweaver. These two Suul'ka probably started out as beloved celebrites on Muur (one was probably a great singer, the other a great gardener) and their Industrial Revolution may have felt like one big party for all involved, albeit one which left a big mess of course. Due to their seductive nature, if any Suul'ka can corrupt other Liir and turn them into Dark Eldar Space Dolphins, its those two.

Liir have almost no-individualism as they're a psychic race with very open minds, privacy doesn't exist in their language.

If there is some Liir thinking or even admiring the Suul'Ka, they're killed on the spot by their own groups or sent to an Elder to be "fixed" so their "Song" doesn't get corrupted.

The only Liirs that exist with the Suul'Ka are those that are slaves and delicacy to their Zuul pets, wanting to end their own lives.

More likely. If it had been from her first exile, it would be Nightmare Moon, not Luna.
